All wifi connections are broken. Rebooting fixes the issue, switching to WICD on-the-fly enables to continue browsing without rebooting, so it seems to be no hardware issue or iwl3945 issue. What to expect: stable connections and flawless network managing. What happens: so above. After that, all serial wacom devices (for the touchscreen) are gone: serial wacom stylus serial wacom eraser serial wacom touch xinput -list and xsetwacom --list don't show these devices and the Wacom Tablet section of the system setings reports 'no tablet detected' rather than showing the usual settings. Booting with the old linux 3.13 kernel makes no difference to the new version 3.16. To find out what happened I played around on a spare partition with the following results: 1) fresh installation of 14.10 - result is the same like reported above: no touch devices 2) fresh installation of 14.04 - touch works out of the box 3) upgraded the fresh installation of trusty to utopic: touch devices gone again 4) manually changed repos to utopic after fresh installation of 14.04 and updated ONLY the xserver-xorg-input-wacom package: apt pulled some dependencies and installed without errors, touch devices gone (so it reproduces the error exactly as the full upgrade) WORKAROUND: Replace the udev rule /lib/udev/rules.d/69-wacom.rules/wacom.rules by the old file from Ubuntu 14.04 by putting it in /lib/udev/rules.d/ : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-wacom/+bug/1392887/+attachment/4264135/+files/69-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: xserver-xorg-input-wacom 1:0.25.0-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-24.32-generic 3.16.4 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-24-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Fri Nov 14 22:51:05 2014 DistUpgraded: 2014-11-01 04:28:11,674 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: utopic DistroVariant: ubuntu InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-10-16 (759 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120823.1) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 2760p ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.16.0-24-generic root=UUID=81ff9b66-4d33-49d5-a76f-cf1418c3e354 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xf86-input-wacom UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to utopic on 2014-11-01 (13 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 08/04/2014 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: 68SOU Ver. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1235625] Re: fix legacy keygrabber for gnome-ish sessions
Hey guys, it looks like in Utopic the legacy keygrabber has been gutted entirely. What should we do now if we run an alternate window manager? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1235625 Title: fix legacy keygrabber for gnome-ish sessions Status in gnome-settings-daemon package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-settings-daemon source package in Saucy: Fix Released Bug description: [ Description ] In Saucy, media keys in gnome-ish (using gnome-settings-daemon) sessions only work when gnome-panel or Unity are in use, as the code path checks for their names on the bus. They ought to work for all sessions. [ Fix ] Change the logic so that the keygrabber is started all the time except under Shell sessions. [ QA ] In a session that runs gnome-settings-daemon but neither panel nor shell (xfce or Openbox? or a custom xmonad), check that media keys now work. [ Regression potential ] Changes activation criteria for the legacy keygrabber. Check it still works in Unity, panel and that the new method works under shell. [ Original report ] The previous patch to fix the legacy keygrabber was Unity specific and breaks on gnome-ish sessions that require it, instead we should load the legacy keygrabber for any session that is not gnome-shell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1235625/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
