[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1329034] Re: Touchpad only recognized as mouse2 but does not offer scrolling

2015-03-13 Thread Felix Kay
Possibly #1336086 is a dublicate.

I am confirming this bug for my DELL LATITUDE D620 (old machine) and
Ubuntu Trusty LTS.

The trouble with the touchpad driver - the touchpad being misrecognised
as a PS2 mouse - seems to occure with different DELL models as well as
even with different manufacturers (cf. #1336086).

Since working with a pointing device is essential to productive working
on a computer and since there has been often trouble with this driver
since Ubuntu Precise (solving the bug seems to have been eventually
dropped for Precise, Quantal etc.) I would like to suggest that a bug
solution should be intensively worked on.

Title:
deault unity menu does not show with desktop

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
Description: The default menu panel for unity doesn not show when no
other program is highlighted. It should display something similar to
the Nautilus Menu. Problem did - if I remember right - also occur with
  my Precise Pangolin.

Reproduce: Minimize or close all active windows or hit show desktop
button. Move mouse to the very top to show standard menu.

  Additional information:
  - using standard global menu
  - only an optical (not an essential) issue
  - using Trusty right now

Just thought I might report this since it affected me for a longer
time now.As for me I consider it only a cosmetic issue.

UPDATE (16 Jun 2014): Related to Bug #769254 - Since this one refers
to Ubuntu 11.04 and Unity2D I don't know if this is helpful (Unity2d
is canceled in favor of 3D with 13.04). Yet one can find a bit of code
in the bug description which might be helpful.

Also I am not sure if the bug is assigned to the right package. The
bug might be a Compiz problem.

Probable dublicate of Bug #1310864.

See there for more descriptions of unexpected behaviour when moving an

Why are URL here processed differently by the system to Files/Folders?

Title:
Desktop URL shortcuts, added from Firefox, are not movable

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Let's open http://www.ubuntu.com/ at Firefox, an then let's drag Earth icon
left to site's URL, and drop it to the surface of our desktop-worktable. For
now all is fine, icon-link (actually The leading OS for PC, tablet, phone and
cloud | Ubuntu.desktop file at ~/Desktop) was created, we can open Ubuntu.com
site by clicking it. We can delete it, or move to other folder as well. But we
can't move it over the desktop surface, error message will be shown after such
attempt:
  Error while copying “/”.
There was an error copying the file into /home/renat/Desktop.
Error opening file '/': Is a directory

The leading OS for PC, tablet, phone and cloud | Ubuntu.desktop file is
definitely a file, not a folder, it contains this data:
  [Desktop Entry]
  Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Link to The leading OS for PC, tablet, phone and cloud | Ubuntu
  Type=Link
  URL=http://www.ubuntu.com/
  Icon=text-html

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04
  Package: firefox 28.0+build2-0ubuntu2

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1310864] Re: Desktop URL shortcuts, added from Firefox, are not movable

2014-05-21 Thread Felix Kay
Similar to Bug #1278437
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1278437)

Confirming this for my Trusty with a slight difference in the behavior:
When moving URLs the URL is copied and produces a local HTML file. If I
hold CAPS a error message appears, if I hold CTR + CAPS nothing happens
at all.

Expected correct behavior: When moving a URL on the desktop it actually
moves and does not run the commond of copy.

Assignment to Firefox might be wrong because it happens in the same way
with Google Chrome. So we should probably assign this to Nautilus in
Ubuntu 14.04.

** Also affects: nautilus
   Importance: Undecided

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1212845] [NEW] Software Updater does not show any details

2013-08-15 Thread Felix Kay
Public bug reported:

Every once in a while the software updater prompts in my 12.10
GNOME/MATE without showing anything in the fields Details of updates
and technical description. So there's no info at all although Ubuntu
wants to install some 100 KB of software (see attached screenshot). By
closing and restarting the Software Updater the problem vanishes
showing the complete installable software of some MBs with details and
technical description. Not reproducible. And - I think - not very
critical.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04
Package: evince 3.6.1-1ubuntu3

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 819994] Re: String length of items seems limited (system settings label get truncated)

2012-04-09 Thread Felix Kay
Is it possible to write a gnome patch on this for a simple user? Well...
as posted on Brainstorm by me, the System Settings should urgently be
restructured and graphically developed in my opinion...

Status in “gtk+3.0” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
It seems there is a limit of the chars in a setting button.

In my panel I have 'Systeeminformati', but it should show 'Systeeminformatie'.
So it looks like the 'e' got cut off.
