Title:
empathy shows multiple popups in gnome 3

Status in Chat app, and Telepathy user interface:
  Incomplete
Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  What happens :
With gnome-shell, a popup saying I have X message, then again, with the
ability to respond. If I open the bottom-right hand notification area, it shows
the person's avatar and the number of missed im's. It also creates a new icon
for empathy itself that seems to just bring the app forward. If I open the
contact's chat log in gnome-shell, the unread indicator goes away and it shows
the built-in chat log, but the empathy icon does not. If I click the icon, it
opens the empathy window holding that chat, bringing it to the front.

  Expected:
the empathy icon should never showed up, so only the built-in gnome-shell
chat interface should be in the notification area.

  Other info:
It seems that this only happens when empathy isn't in the front. It seems to
be sending the receive message and respond message over (I'm assuming) dmesg or
the like. This may be an upstream bug, I am not sure.

  I just updated to 12.04:
  Empathy is 3.4.1-0ubuntu1
  gnome-shell is 3.4.1-0ubuntu2

Originally, I thought this was like bug #920382, but after rereading
and reading up on #921168, I see it isn't. It seems to be a separate,
  if related, bug.

I may also add that the bug seems to happen on every facebook chat
instance while only on chat I started on google talk.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 920382] Re: empathy shows incorrect names multiple times in indicator applet

2012-04-28 Thread Grafosecondo
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 921168 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/921168

I'm using empathy on gnome 3 and it seems quite the same bug. This is
what happens to me:

- When I send a message it comes back to me as notification.
- When I receive a message it is shown to me first as plain notification and
then as gnome3 chat dialog on the bottom of the screen.

Cheers
A.

Title:
empathy shows incorrect names multiple times in indicator applet

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Since latest updates on precise empathy's indicator applet is broken.
Firstly responses TO me are posted to come FROM me. So it shows my
own name responding to myself instead of the person I am chatting to.
And then it posts the same persons name over and over each time they
type anything and press enter. The 3rd issue is that when you click on
the name in the applet it does not clear it. you have to click the
clear button. but that only works till the next time someone posts
anything. So chatting on an IRC channel has you ending up with about
20 lines in the applet all showing MY name.
