[Desktop-packages] [Bug 572074]

2022-04-16 Thread Grgoffe
Hi,

I gave up on trying to get these options "fixed" so I started using an
add-on named "Tab Mix Plus". This add-on has a setting in it's
preferences that traverses ctrl-t navigates tabs in the most recently
used order. Somehow that was set... it was driving me NUTS! It has some
really nice features.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox

As the summary says: when a user opens a new, empty tab, it opens next
to the rightmost of tabs currently open in the browser. This is
inconsistent with the way links in new tabs are opened, which is to
have them next to the currently active tab.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open multiple tabs in the browser.
  2. Select the leftmost tab.
  3. Press Ctrl + T.

  Expected result:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 572074]

2022-04-16 Thread Grgoffe
Hi,

I completely agree with the sentiment expressed above... It IS hard for
software to do EVERYTHING though. The reason for my post was to attempt
to let "everyone" know about tab mix plus. It has some GREAT ideas.

Thanks for your post.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 583797]

2018-12-12 Thread Grgoffe
Hi,

I reported this problem a few days ago. It appears on the released
version AND the beta version of FF.

I don't understand why it's still happening. I HAVE seen it work
properly several times yet, here we are again with a failure.

It usually happens when I'm in a hurry and hit the wrong key by
accident. As I said, I HAVE seen it work properly and am always amazed
when it fails to warn me.

Could someone please explain to me why we are "here" again?

Thanks,

George...

Andre,

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 583797]

2018-12-12 Thread Grgoffe
Hi,

This problem just started happening to me with FF Nightly, which I
update daily. Two updates ago, it was working wonderfully... now it's
"adios" with NO warning.

I looked in about:config and searched on "warnon". ALL variables
appeared (11 in number) have the value of "true".

Is there a way for me to load several updates previously (say 5 days
ago) and test this?

THANKS!

George...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 583797]

2018-12-12 Thread Grgoffe
My earlier statement about when this problem started happening was in
error. I have tried the "released" version and the "beta" version as
well as the "nightly" versions and ALL had the same behavior. Quit
without any notification. Argh!

  Confirm close
You are about to close x tabs. Are you sure you want to continue?

  4) What happens instead is one is not warned and the window closes.

  PARTIAL WORKAROUND: about:config -> browser.tabs.maxOpenBeforeWarn ->
change from 15 to 2. This will pop up the confirmation box clicking
  the X and Alt+Space -> C only.

WORKAROUND: Disable Ctrl+Q quiting the browser by installing keyconfig add-on:
  http://mozilla.dorando.at/keyconfig.xpi

  Then Tools -> Add-Ons -> Extensions -> keyconfig Preferences ->
  highlight Quit -> Disable

Original Reporter Comments: I found a "workaround" that says to set
"open to a blank page" somewhere else, and I set this, but it still
  doesn't warn me.

I work from home and frequently spend an hour or so putting in data,
all on one screen. If I accidentally hit the stupid little x (which is
now in the left hand corner just where you don't need it, it is too
easy to hit it by accident, but i can't change this, it comes with the
distro), i lose all that work.

Please tell me how to fix this terrible bug.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 572074]

2015-01-14 Thread Grgoffe
Hi,

More information about this topic that seem to be solved for me by a
plug-in named Tab mix plus at this web site. It's pretty cool. Way
beyond what I would have asked for. I had a little trouble understanding
the behavior of one of the options and their support staff was MOST
happy and ABLE to help me. I would give them a 10 out of 10.

Thanks,

George...

I'd like to add to this bug by suggesting in general that as many
options as possible be given to the user. Out of the box could work the
same as always but those who want to change will have the ability.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 27867]

2014-05-12 Thread Grgoffe
Florent,

Thank you for all your precious time spent in clarifying this situation.
It really is a bag of worms. Unfortunately.

Does anyone know of a browser that does this better? Maybe what they do
could be applied to this situation?

This is like trying to make everyone happy. Virtually impossible to do.

I had written a bug about changing font sizes affecting the display of
text adversely... resulting in buttons that are only half (or less)
there. Probably the same situation as this one. Sigh...

Again, thanks for your explanation.

George...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 27867]

2014-05-10 Thread Grgoffe
Hi,

It seems to me that you're trying to keep the user(s) from doing
something stupid.

Users will almost ALWAYS try to do something stupid, not necessarily on
purpose but by accident. Like black text on a black background. It's
inescapable. Don't even try. Perhaps a disclaimer when the option to use
user settings instead of a sites settings would be enough? It would
CERTAINLY be for me. Maybe, you can add a button or something in a
predictable part of the display that would let the user change the
settings back to defaults for a specific site. Maybe two consecutive
clicks would switch away and then switch back? Maybe forever? Maybe
for just this one instance where the browser is displaying a particular
site?

I would find such a solution quite acceptable.

Thanks for your masterful, well thought out response for this bug.

Ubuntu fixed the problem? Did they make a mod to FF or is their mod to

Title:
New tabs open to the right of all existing tabs instead of opening
  next to the current tab

Status in The Mozilla Firefox Browser:
  Confirmed
Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox

As the summary says: when a user opens a new, empty tab, it opens next
to the rightmost of tabs currently open in the browser. This is
inconsistent with the way links in new tabs are opened, which is to
have them next to the currently active tab.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open multiple tabs in the browser.
  2. Select the leftmost tab.
  3. Press Ctrl + T.

  Expected result:
Have a new, empty tab next to the leftmost tab.

  Actual result:
The new, empty tab opens next to the rightmost tab.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 572074]

2012-01-28 Thread Grgoffe
I should clarify my previous post a tiny bit. I use the middle button on
links to get a tab next to the one I'm currently using, ctrl-t gives a
new tab at the end of the tab bar.
