Hi Julian, I returned the card to the shop since I didn't have a good experience with it. I was using `ignore_ctl_error=1` to prevent that ugly error... Hopefully, this will be fixed... Just happened on my ASUS N550J notebook, running 14.04. I ran `sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade` and waited to finish updating. Sometimes I am getting strange results in battery power state, that are not even close to be accurate. So bugs are: 1) Then I am turning on the notebok with not enough power (3% for example) the fan is going to it`s full speed (no CPU loading at all) and the power indicator shows that power is insufficient. Plugging the power adapter didn`t solved the problem - it was not charging and notebook soon turns off. 2) As I described above, I can`t feed the notebook sometimes (especially on low battery level). 3) I am getting the strange battery state result: sometimes it looks, that it`s charging very slow. Now it fails every single job, printing half a page and then ejecting the page when a USB reset is issued. Same printer works fine when printing through Windows in Virtualbox with USB passthrough. Summary: the USB backend improvements have rendered my printer useless with CUPS. Unloading the usblp module makes no difference - the USB reset is what aborts the print job. [ 224.008042] usb 3-1: reset full-speed USB device number 3 using uhci_hcd [ 224.161701] usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 3 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04A9 pid 0x108 Kubuntu 12.04 [IMPACT] Everyone with a Canon inkjet connected to USB and also users of some other printer models on USB get printouts with the last page being incomplete. This happens for every job. For everyone with a Samsung printer the problem of bug 995111 shows up again. [TESTCASE] Unfortunately, for reproducing this bug one needs the actual hardware. Connect a Canon inkjet (or other models mentioned in this bug report) to the USB and print from a completely updated Precise system. The last page of each job will come out incomplete. Connect a Samsung printer to the USB and print from a completely updated Precise system. You will get printouts with weird characters (at least from the second job on) as described in bug 995111. After installing the proposed package all these problems should disappear. [Regression Potential] Regression risk is very low. The fix is not doing the USB device reset on the printer after the job for most printers. The fix contains an exception rule for Samsung printers and Prolific Technology USB-Parallel adapters, to avoid reoccurring of bug 987485 and bug 997040. It is still possible that some printers are treated incorrectly in terms of whether they need a reset after the job or not. As most printers work both with and without reset this risk is very low. @len-ovenwerks Which program are you using to record your piano? I use Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) Is it recording directly from alsa? or by using pulseaudio? I guess that by using pulseaudio. How can I record directly from alsa? If you have switched anything you may have to restart your recording application (audacity works well by the way) to get the new settings. The recording tab should show the application you are recording with when in record mode (record plus pause is useful to set levels with before starting to record). The default microphone takes sounds from room (it's the internal laptop microphone). When I select it alsamixer crashes. can you post the system log ? What command to run for that? did you compter suspend and resume ? What you mean? An error is thrown: $ alsactl store -f abc.txt alsactl: get_control:256: Cannot read control '2,0,0,PCM Capture Source,0': Broken pipe Also, one clue: in the external sound card (the hardware element) I have a switcher: USB Audio 2.0 and USB Audio 1.0. When 2.0 is selected the laptop recognizes it as Xonar U7. The error appears only when 2.0 is selected. If I select 1.0 the laptop recognizes it as USB Audio Device - the error does NOT appear. I can select it. Is this helpful? The microphone and the hadphone jacks are into one jack with 4 pins. I use a splitter to separate them. The splitter works fine separathing the single jack into two: headphone and microphone jacks. I connected the headphones to the splitter (the headphone splitter) and the cable that comes from piano into the microphone jack from splitter. I can hear the piano sounds very clear, but I cannot record them. If I connect a microphone instead of the piano, the laptop captures the microphone sounds (not the internal microphone but the microphone I plugged into the splitter) and it is able to record them. do your laptop support mic jack ?
