[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1655319] [NEW] Plasmashell crashes every few minutes because of gfx driver
Public bug reported: I've got problems with the nouveau driver. It makes Plasmashell crash every few minutes. Since I don't know what Plasmashell actually does, I don't know which Plasmashell task crashes. Probably it is related to signaling apt package updates. I am still trying to fetch a trace. but until now I wasn't able yet to install all necessary -dbg packages. (which -dbg package belongs to libqt5?) nvidia-304 driver does not work at all (blank screen) Hardware: GeForce 7600 GT AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3800+ Via Chipset Asus A8V-VM SE I already thoroughly tested hard-disk and memory, everything OK. If you can suggest a tool for CPU and GFX burn in test... If I remember correctly, I experienced the problem with Kubuntu 14.4 LTS, too. I was able to workaround by installing the the Nvidia driver. This time the Nvidia driver doesn't work either. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1241101]
Hi, I simply don't understand why nobody fixes this bug. This was already discussed a thousand times. See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=430736 The problem occurs in any eclipse versions I tried (beginning with eclipse-3.8 from Ubuntu repo). workarounds are either: export SWT_GTK3=0 for me also worked export SWT_GTK3=1 the other bug says put into eclipse.ini: --launcher.GTK_version 2 If you don't fix it, why don't you deliver any of the workarounds? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241101 Title: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 Status in Eclipse: Confirmed Status in gtk+2.0 package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in gtk+2.0 package in Suse: New Bug description: Running smartgit 4.6.4 on 13.10 64 bits. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1243261] Re: apparent GPU hang on haswell laptop when playing movie on libreoffice
updating using this guide https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/graphics-drivers/ solves the problem (but introduces other display problems) So I think we just have to wait a bit until mesa 10.2 settles. I too have a haswell chip, use it's onboard gfx feature and experience massive problems with playback of any video (including dvb-s) using vlc or kaffeine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243261 Title: apparent GPU hang on haswell laptop when playing movie on libreoffice Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: How to reproduce: 1. open libreoffice -> file -> new -> presentation 2. paste any movie; insert -> movie this bug is quite reproducible and this movie file can be anything that libreoffice/gstreamer can play. 3. verify you correctly pasted the movie by selecting the movie in the slide and clicking the play botton bottom left. check if the movie *plays* ok. 4. then start slideshow from the slideshow menu or F5. Symptom: * a screen hang. this continues at least ten seconds or more. after that you can somehow quit the slideshow mode. * ESC and other keys do not stop the slideshow, except ctrl+alt+F1 * switching to VT and getting back to X helps sometimes.
