[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2019501] [NEW] Matebook D15 AMD Ryzen 5500U - Can't find Headphones/Speakers and not working
Public bug reported: My speakers and headphones jack don't work properly: Ubuntu can't find these audio output and can't of course reproduce a sound. Using USB audio card [to connect headphones jack/mic] works, and also I can use the HDMI video and audio output perfectly. I've tested the speakers and headphones with Windows and there's no problem. To help you understand the issue, I've attached an archive containing two files recorded at the same time, one with arecord -f cd and the other with a stand-alone Olympus recorder. A video of Audacity's behavior when trying to record is also available: https://youtu.be/Fe20eQNvZVA Look at the seconds hand of the xclock and how much it is moving before Audacity is done recording one second of audio. Things I've already tried: * Purging and reinstalling Audacity * Purging and reinstalling Pulseaudio following the guide on the Ubuntu Wiki * Running audacity with this command: Exec=env PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 audacity as suggested on AskUbuntu * Reinstalling Ubuntu on a new hard disk * Running audacity on a live CD (in Ubuntu version 16.04.3, 17.10.1, 18.04 daily and Xubuntu 17.10.1, 18.04) The machine is a Ryzen 5 1600 with an ASUS X370 Prime motherboard. The problem can be reproduced as follows: * Boot a live DVD of Ubuntu/Xubuntu 16.04.3, 17.10.1, 18.04 (versions I've tested with) * Install audacity via the terminal * Start recording, microphone is connected to the rear microphone jack. Bug fix suggestions in comments below. {original bug report below} Binary package hint: seahorse Seahorse will not generate a new key. I have used gksudo to launch seahorse from the command line. Seahorse opens. I press on the 'new' button to generate a new key. I select PGP key and press continue. I fill out the fields for 'real name', 'email address', and 'comment'. I click on the arrow for advanced options. I select 4096 for key strength. I remove the check from the box that says never expires. I click on 'Create'. It asks me for a Passphrase for New PGP Key. I enter my password two times, the same both times. I click oK. A box pops up with an error message in it: Couldn't generate PGP key General error The html tags are in the actual error message. No key is generated. I am running Ubuntu 8.10 gpg is installed: em@leibniz:~$ gpg --version gpg (GnuPG) 1.4.9 em@leibniz:~$ uname -a Linux leibniz 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 22:15:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux === I too have the similar problem: right click on folder, select "Encrypt". At this point I get message that no key are available and seahorse opens up. I click on File, New, fill out name, email, comment, leave other defaults alone. Next I get the password box I fill in the password, and the working bar apears for about a minute or two and then I get an error message saying that it can not generate key. I was running 8.10 with latest patches, last night I upgraded to 9.04 to see if it would help, but it did not, still get the same error. Thanks for any one looking into this. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1113454] Re: Artefacts with nouveau driver
Hi, can you post a dmesg log after the problem arises? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1113454 Title: Artefacts with nouveau driver Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: On my laptop, Acer Aspire 7520 with a Geforce 8400m G graphics card I can't get the nvidia driver working correctly: this driver crashes my system (brings it to a total freeze, not abililty to start another session or reboot) totally at least 3 times a day. With Nouveau drivers it seems to work fine, but after some time, I get artefacts in programs, on the desktop and the unity bar. It gets unusable very fast. Restarting X solves the problem, but causes (obviously) a restart of all running apps. I have added x-edgers ppa instead of the regular source, but this brings only a very slight improvement (at least so it seems), Well, I have includes a screenshot of my messed up desktop. I have seen that this was a problem in the past as well (found some bug reports for plain vanilla debian). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1072403] Re: Unity and GnomeShell hang or crash with nouveau kernel error messages fail ttm_validate, validate vram_list and validate: -12

In the worst cases the whole system crashes and only SysRq keys are working. At other times I'm still able to reach the terminal via ctrl-alt-f1. Even if the system survived, the window manager often later on hangs and displays false colors and sometimes recovers. The log files automatically attached by apport should document the latter error symptom. I'd be happy to supply more information if you can give me hints how to gather them.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1058957] [NEW] Firefox may lose dropdown menu and pop-up menu when MenuBar present on KDE
Public bug reported: When Firefox has extension Global Menubar integration 3.2.5 and I had plasma menubar on my panel, Firefox often loses dropdown menu and right- click pop-up menu. The problem still persist in 3.5.1 version of globalmenu. Procedure: With plasma-menubar active (menu on top panel like mac osx style), open firefox with any normal web-age, click on clear history and try to dropdown the menu (1 hour ago, 24 hours ...) it doesn't work. Then also right click on web page don't work. There are many ways to reproduce the problem, the above is just one example. I guess the problem lies between Global Menubar integration and Plasma Menubar. Since everything go back to normal when I disabled the firefox extension Global Menubar integration.
