[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1663060] Re: Add a title field to snap metadata
For reference Click Package Index ("the store") already has a title field. It is returned by default in the details and search endpoints: $ curl -s 'https://search.apps.ubuntu.com/api/v1/snaps/search?q=ubuntu-clock-app=1' -H 'X-Ubuntu-Series: 16' | jq . { "_embedded": { "clickindex:package": [ { "publisher": "Ubuntu Core App Developers", "ratings_average": 0, "name": "ubuntu-clock-app.ubuntucoredev", "package_name": "ubuntu-clock-app", "title": "Clock", "icon_url": "https://myapps.developer.ubuntu.com/site_media/appmedia/2016/03/icon_1.png;, "price": 0, "summary": "Ubuntu Clock application for the Unity desktop", "content": "application", "alias": "ubuntu-clock-app", "version": "3.6+snap3", "_links": { "self": { "href": "https://search.apps.ubuntu.com/api/v1/snaps/details/ubuntu-clock-app; } }, "architecture": [ "amd64" ], "prices": {}, "plugs": [ "opengl", "unity7" ], "snap_id": "vjQhIxU28Zszo6iEjbbrmosRqSpBq4GD", "slots": [], "revision": 5 } ] And snapd 2.21 at least requests it explicitly: [14/Feb/2017:06:57:57 +] "GET /api/v1/snaps/search?confinement=strict%2Cclassic=anon_download_url%2Carchitecture%2Cchannel%2Cdownload_sha3_384%2Csummary%2Cdescription%2Cdeltas%2Cbinary_filesize%2Cdownload_url%2Cepoch%2Cicon_url%2Clast_updated%2Cpackage_name%2Cprices%2Cpublisher%2Cratings_average%2Crevision%2Cscreenshot_urls%2Csnap_id%2Csupport_url%2Ctitle%2Ccontent%2Cversion%2Corigin%2Cdeveloper_id%2Cprivate%2Cconfinement=appear.in HTTP/1.1" 200 2454 "-" "snapd/2.21 (series 16; classic) ubuntu/16.04 (amd64)" I'd have to check where the value for that field is coming from though - whether it's automatically extracted from somewhere or provided by the developer in the web UI. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1663060 Title: Add a title field to snap metadata Status in Developer registration portal: New Status in Snappy: New Status in gnome-software package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in snapcraft package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in snapd package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in snapd-glib package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: There are currently three naming fields in the snap metadata: name: a codename for the snap (can't contain spaces) summary: a one-line description of the snap description: A multi-line description of the snap For example for the Ubuntu calculator app we have: name: ubuntu-calculator-app summary: Ubuntu Calculator app description: The calculator app for all Ubuntu devices. What is missing is the 'title' field from the store - this is more appropriate to use in a graphical system to display this. For example, this should be "Calculator" for ubuntu-calculator-app. I think the following needs to be done: 1. A title field needs to be specified in the .snap metadata. 2. snapd needs to return this field for local snaps from the metadata, and return the store field for searches. 3. The store should take the title field from the metadata when uploading and automatically set it in the store. 4. Snapcraft needs to have updated documentation / prompt the user to enter this field. 5. snapd-glib needs support for this field. 6. GNOME Software should use this field where appropriate. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1252106] [NEW] WiFi connections not re-established
Public bug reported: If I boot my phone at home, it happily connects to my wireless network. If I leave home and have Cellular Data enabled, it will establish a 3G connection. If I then return home, it remains on 3G instead of switching back to the wireless network. Even if I disable Cellular data, the wireless connection is not re-established. I have tried restarting network-manager and wpasupplicant, to no avail. The only way I have been able to get it to reconnect to the wireless network is to reboot the phone. The logs suggest that the wireless authentication fails, but the reboot doesn't prompt for new credentials. We had this same patch in 12.04, but it got accidentally dropped for 12.10. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1004775] Re: NetworkManager restarts dnsmasq on every IPv6 route advertisement, thus very frequently
FWIW, I've checked the Ignore automatically obtained routes checkbox in the Routes... dialogue. I'm going to see how it goes. So far I've reconnected to Freenode, Facebook and G+ after unplugging my network cable to clear the route list, and so far the route list hasn't grown from the default routes set up when I reconnected the cable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1004775 Title: NetworkManager restarts dnsmasq on every IPv6 route advertisement, thus very frequently Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “network-manager” source package in Precise: Triaged Status in “network-manager” source package in Quantal: Triaged Bug description: NetworkManager stops and starts dnsmasq very frequently (every few minutes). During the brief window that dnsmasq is restarting, hostname resolution doesn't work. dnsmasq is getting restarted frequently enough that I see brief hostname resolution errors in Chrome several times a day during normal web browsing. This is on Precise with network-manager 0.9.4.0-0ubuntu4 and dnsmasq- base 2.59-4. The frequent restarts seem to be triggered by IPv6 route advertisements on my network. (See log snippet below.) When NetworkManager gets a route advertisement, it reconfigures everything. In the case of dnsmasq, this means stopping dnsmasq, writing a new config file, and starting dnsmasq. NetworkManager should restart dnsmasq only if it its configuration changes. I'm attaching a snippet from /var/log/daemon.log on my system that demonstrates a restart. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 977639] Re: NetworkManager erroneously reports iwlwifi as disabled by hardware switch
Turns out this is easy to reproduce, at least for me: * Associate with a wireless network. (This step may not be necessary, but is the normal state for me.) * Click nm-applet to activate the drop-down. * Uncheck Enable Wireless from the nm-applet drop-down. * Click nm-applet a second time to activate the drop-down. * Note under Wireless Networks in the nm-applet drop-down, the message wireless is disabled by hardware switch. * Note that Enable Wireless in the nm-applet drop-down is greyed out. To re-enable wireless, I have to: * Open a terminal. * Issue: sudo rfkill list. * Note the indexes of the Wireless LAN entries that show Soft blocked: yes. * Issue: sudo rfkill unblock n for each value of n returned by the command above. * Issue: sudo service network-manager restart. * Click nm-applet to activate the drop-down. * Check Enable Wireless from the nm-applet drop-down. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/977639 Title: NetworkManager erroneously reports iwlwifi as disabled by hardware switch Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I noticed last night that one of my wireless access points was not listed in nm-applet, which seemed odd given that it was only 2 metres away. Yes, requesting suspend through the session indicator works as expected. I do recall having to add a boot parameter to get that to work. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 849254] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_unref()
Yes, this is still an issue for me. Yes it is reproducible - I just have to log out and log back in and it crashes shortly after the Unity launcher is displayed. I assume there's something in some setting somewhere that the program doesn't like, but I don't know where I should start looking. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/849254 Title: gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_unref() Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: before start unity.
