[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1669321] [NEW] firefox slow
Public bug reported: Firefox is very slow and unresponsive at times. When typing or navigating it would have a massive delay in responding any input. It uses around 1GB to 1,8GB on avg. I usually have about 10 tabs open. Not too many. I have now disabled all add-ons and extension. Doesnt make any difference 1) Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64 bit 2)Firefox Web Browser 51.0.1+build2-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: firefox 51.0.1+build2-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 Uname: Linux 4.6.5-040605-lowlatency x86_64 AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.5 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/pcmC1D0c: janusk 2325 F...m pulseaudio /dev/snd/pcmC1D0p: janusk 2325 F...m pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: janusk 2325 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: janusk 2325 F pulseaudio BuildID: 20170201180315 Channel: Unavailable CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Mar 2 11:42:22 2017 DefaultProfileExtensions: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing DefaultProfileIncompatibleExtensions: Unavailable (corrupt or non-existant compatibility.ini or extensions.sqlite) DefaultProfileLocales: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing DefaultProfilePrefSources: prefs.js DefaultProfileThemes: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing ForcedLayersAccel: False IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-08-11 (203 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) IpRoute: default via 10.1.161.250 dev enp0s31f6 proto static metric 100 10.1.5.59 via 10.1.161.250 dev enp0s31f6 proto dhcp metric 100 10.1.161.0/24 dev enp0s31f6 proto kernel scope link src 10.1.161.167 metric 100 169.254.0.0/16 dev enp0s31f6 scope link metric 1000 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_ZA:en PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_ZA.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash Profile1Extensions: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing Profile1IncompatibleExtensions: Unavailable (corrupt or non-existant compatibility.ini or extensions.sqlite) Profile1Locales: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing Profile1PrefSources: prefs.js Profile1Themes: extensions.sqlite corrupt or missing Profile2IncompatibleExtensions: English (South Africa) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org English (GB) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org Default - {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} Profile2Plugins: Google Talk Plugin - /opt/google/talkplugin/libnpgoogletalk.so (google-talkplugin) Google Talk Plugin Video Renderer - /opt/google/talkplugin/libnpo1d.so (google-talkplugin) f5 sam inspection host plugin - [Profile]/extensions/{972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6f1}/plugins/np_f5_inspection_host_x86_64.so Profile2PrefSources: prefs.js Profiles: Profile0 (Default) - LastVersion=48.0/20160728203720 (Out of date) Profile1 - LastVersion=9.0.1/2011122000 (Out of date) Profile2 (Default) - LastVersion=51.0.1/20170201180315 (In use) RelatedPackageVersions: google-talkplugin 5.41.3.0-1 RunningIncompatibleAddons: True SourcePackage: firefox UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 04/20/2016 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: N1KET21W (1.08 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 20FJS29500 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: SDK0J40697 WIN dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: None dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrN1KET21W(1.08):bd04/20/2016:svnLENOVO:pn20FJS29500:pvrThinkPadT560:rvnLENOVO:rn20FJS29500:rvrSDK0J40697WIN:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNone: dmi.product.name: 20FJS29500 dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T560 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1669321 Title: firefox slow Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Firefox is very slow and unresponsive at times. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1479913] Re: SRU request: fglrx.ko fails because of backported GPL-only 'pci_ignore_hotplug' symbol
I know this may be an useless comment, but I managed to get here only when I selected another kernel and found fglrx working. I found weird Xorg log, found weird DKMS module build log (yes, why doesn't APT get an error on building? We could notice the disaster far, far earlier!), selected to let apport report an error and found this one already reported (I restart my machine once a month or like that usually, so no idea when I'd run into that other way. It took several hours of going in almost blind (I installed updates, not much other stuff — what could be my path if I changed many packages in the system, I only could guess), my luck was that I want to found the answer. Not willing that thing to any novice, seriously. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1479913 Title: SRU request: fglrx.ko fails because of backported GPL-only 'pci_ignore_hotplug' symbol Status in fglrx-installer package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in fglrx-installer-updates package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in fglrx-installer source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Status in fglrx-installer-updates source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Status in fglrx-installer source package in Vivid: Fix Committed Status in fglrx-installer-updates source package in Vivid: Fix Committed Bug description: [Impact] An update to the lts-vivid backported kernel (3.19.0-26) in Trusty and to the default kernel in Vivid, pulled in a commit that made pci_ignore_hotplug() GPL only. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1388612]
Regarding the GPU reset, it is in Linux since 3.19-rc1. So if your GPU is not resetting after crashing, upgrade your kernel. Ubuntu has mainline Linux kernel dpkg packages that work well. This is the patching commit: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/656bfa3afc14e45e2d9e1624bf60d79b3beb12f2 It sounds like everyone's GPU's are resetting, so I'm wondering if maybe the Ubuntu guys backported this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388612 Title: [GM965] GPU lockup running OpenGL applications on Dell Vostro 1510 Status in Mesa: Fix Released Status in mesa package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: Hello, I'm suffering a GPU lockup problem with Ubuntu 14.10 64-bit on a Dell Vostro 1510 laptop with Intel graphics. I was wrong, DebugWait didn't help. I disabled DebugWait again of course. It looks as if upgrading to kernel v3.19-rc1 did though. I got the kernel here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/v3.19-rc1-vivid/ However, the commit ID of the patch doesn't match the one Daniel Vetter gave above. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1386742] [NEW] Additional drivers recommends wrong solution for BCM4318
Public bug reported: On my Acer Aspire 3613WLMi laptop I have the following wireless network card: thue@thue-Aspire-3610:~$ lspci [...] 06:05.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) [...] Which is not automatically working on installation. The additional drivers in the ubuntu control center recommends downloading a properitary driver (see attached screenshot) - after I install that the network card doesn't actually work, and the kernel oopses. But if I after much googling install the firmware-b43-installer package from the Ubuntu repository, then my wireless network card works! Slm! I'd like to correct it at least locally, but in fact I don't want that app working at the moment for several months yet, and package maintainer does not take care of that, and unless we break it thru and let maintainer correct the thing others won't have it working.
