[Desktop-packages] [Bug 580333] Re: tomboy notes disappeared

2013-02-04 Thread Joshua Hoover
This is a server side issue and we're working on the fix right now. For
information on restoring notes in Tomboy, please see:

notes/

  tomboy notes disappeared

Status in Tomboy:

  Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
  Release: 10.04

  andyh@dylan:~$ aptitude show tomboy
  Package: tomboy
  State: installed
  Automatically installed: no
  Version: 1.2.1-0ubuntu1

Hi. I recently upgraded to Lucid beta on my laptop from karmic. Things
seemed ok. Today I noticed that all but two (which may be new) of my
tomboy notes have disappeared. There's still a stack in .tomboy but
only two in .local/share/tomboy. This makes me very sad :-(

I suspect that tomboy may not be the culprit, and the culprit may be
ubuntu-one which I've struggled to get going (without much success).

I doubt there's anything you can do to help me (unless there's a super
secret place where tomboy notes are copied to) but I felt I should
file an issue just incase there's something you can do for others.

Possibly related after upgrade/ubuntu one usage all of my podcasts
disappeared from rhythmbox and I had to resubscribe. No idea if the
  two things are related.

I've been using Ubuntu since warty days and this is the first time an
upgrade has resulted in data loss!

  Thanks Andy Hird

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: software-center

I used Software Center -> Get Software -> For Purchase and bought
"Ricks Wallpapers" for $1.00 USD. The purchase process went fine, but
the install failed, and has now left my apt cache in a bad state.

After the purchase process, Software Center spun its wheels for a very
long time (several minutes) until finally a popup error window
  delivered this error:

  W: Failed to fetch
https://private-ppa.launchpad.net/commercial-ppa-uploaders/ri
  cks-wallpaper/ubuntu/dists/maverick/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz Proxy
CONNECT
   aborted
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones
used
   instead.

'sudo apt-get update' also fails with the same error message.

The problem apparently occurs because of my apt-cache-ng proxy setup (which
works fine otherwise). I have a one line file /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/01proxy:
 Acquire::http { Proxy "http://my.proxy.host:3142";; };

If I disable my apt proxy by commenting out the Acquire line, then I
am able to install "Ricks Wallpapers" from Software Center. And 'apt-
get update' then yields only "Ign https://...ricks-wallpaper..."; (no
error). But then even after having successfully installed the
package, re-enabling my proxy Acquire line causes 'apt-get update' to
fail with the same error above.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 571286] Re: Data loss of postal addresses between Evolution and Ubuntu One's Funambol exchange/web UI

Bug description:
The freedesktop specification for contacts records
  (http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/desktopcouch/contact)
had, for postal addresses, one field for "street", containing a
multiline text, while the Funambol exchange (phone sync) the web UI
uses "address1" and "address2" for the same, which results in data
loss for users that edit in both Evolution and the Funambol
exchange+web UI, and this has been happening since Karmic.

  We need several things:
  * change the Freedesktop specification to use "address1" and "address2"
  * change evolution-couchdb in both Karmic and Lucid to switch from using a
multiline "street" field to using "address1" and "address2"
  * change the Funambol exchange and the web UI to support records with a
multiline "street", so as not to lose data from not yet upgraded clients

So this needs a SRU for couchdb-glib for both Karmic and Lucid and a
synchronized change on the server side
