[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1773700] Re: [UX390UAK, Realtek ALC295, Speaker, Internal] very loud and crackling sound no matter what sound I play

2019-01-07 Thread Jule Marcoueille
And I do not know if it changes something but I have this workaround
active too: http://iam.tj/prototype/enhancements/Windows-acpi_osi.html

Plus, I have tried the fixes in your first post with no more luck for the
crackling sound.
* `options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1` in `/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf` -
KO
* `options snd-hda-intel position_fix=2` in `/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf` -
KO
* `load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0` in `/etc/pulse/default.pa` - KO

2019-01-07 Thread Jule Marcoueille
For me the steps from this tutorial https://era86.github.io/2017/10/03
/asus-zenbook-3-volume-controls.html have done the trick in order to
control the internal speaker volume. But unfortunately it is more a
workaround than a real fix since I still have crackling sound... :'(

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1810039] Re: Volume noisy and loud with no level control [HDA Intel PCH / Realtek ALC295]

2019-01-07 Thread Jule Marcoueille
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1773700 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1773700

@vanvugt: the gif is relevant in order to understand well the bug I
think, I mean it may show the correct way of handling some devices but
as I said in my case changing PCM volume is the only way to get volume
react normally since Master volume does nothing at all. I guess it can
help devs understand where the bug is coming from.

And indeed this is a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1773700. I did not find him before,
sorry for this one.

2018-12-29 Thread Jule Marcoueille
Do not know if it is a pulseaudio or a alsa-driver bug (cf.
https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Documentation/User/PulseAudioStoleMyVolumes/)
 but I think it is both:
1/ ALSA driver may not report correct dB information.
2/ PulseAudio may not correctly mix PCM into Master since changing Master
volume does nothing at all.
