Hi Colin, I cannot confirm this fix immediately because I now use a different machine (the bug was a show stopper for my business). However, if mplayer/totem/gstreamer now works ok I suppose the libreoffice problem would also be fixed. I very much appreciate your hard work. In addition to in slideshow mode in libreoffice, I confirmed this problem when playing high bitrate movies in fullscreen mode (any movie players). Interestingly, a mp4 movie pasted on a slide in libreoffice that hangs the GPU doesn't induce the same problem when it is played on a movie player. However, playing a high bitrate (say, a DVD iso) movie on a movie player hangs. Probably it occurs when GPU gets high load or sometime of buffer overflow (speculation).
