[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1245200] Re: [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] No sound at all

2013-10-28 Thread Lemon
Seems I have the same or similar problem. See my post in
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/238161

How can I do the 'hda-jack-sense-test' and what is the text below the
statement of jack detection in previous answer? (how to use it?)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1245200] Re: [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] No sound at all

2013-10-28 Thread Lemon
Thanks Raymond. Took me a while to figure out how to install the app
package etc. because I'm total n00b. At least I'm trying.

The output of hda-jack-sense-test is:
~$ hda-jack-sense-test
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File /usr/bin/hda-jack-sense-test, line 47, in module
codec = HDACodec(cardindex, codecindex)
  File /usr/share/snd-hda-tools/hda_codec.py, line 1023, in __init__
self.fd = os.open(/dev/snd/hwC%sD%s % (card, device), os.O_RDWR)
OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/dev/snd/hwC0D0'

used sudo command for this but this returns no output...

The output of 'hda-jack-retask' is: (obviously not in package or I do not have
required skill to find the place or mean to run it)
~$ hda-jack-retask
hda-jack-retask: command not found

I also tried this: sudo hda_analyzer
this brings some nice ui in which I switched everything possible. I'm not sure
if it changes any values on HW in run-time as I heard no change while
manipulating with various switches. I had a youtube video running in the
background.

I'd love to have more input on what I should do next. Especially to make
the retask command/app work for me.

The text files you supplied likely need someone more skilled than I am
to find them useful :(

Any other help would be very appreciated.
