Title:
"Sending of message failed" dialog needs 100% of one CPU as long as it
  is open.

Status in Mozilla Thunderbird:
  Confirmed
Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Priority: Low
  How to reproduce:
   - Attach a large file to a message to make the sending process need enough
time for the third step.
   - press the "send" button
   - Interrupt the internet connection before the sending of the message can be
completed
  Problem:
The Dialog that pops up now telling the message could not be sent creates
100% CPU load for one CPU.
  What was to be expected:
The dialog pops up and does not need any CPU power until a button is clicked.

After-the-fact Filters on custom header won't match for IMAP messages

Status in Mozilla Thunderbird:
  Confirmed
Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

Message filtering appears to be broken on Thunderbird
2.0.0.4~rc1-0ubuntu1 in Gutsy with IMAP. I created a filter for the
warthogs list and it would not move the messages from my inbox to the
folder I had created. It also did not put anything into the filter
log. I tried using the Thunderbird on Feisty with my laptop and it
worked fine when using the same settings. Chris Jones mentioned he
also noticed the same or perhaps a similar issue today.

When sending an email in Thunderbird a small dialog box appears to say

Now it fetched all allready fetched mails again and added some junk

[Regression] Cacert CA certified certificate no longer recognized

Status in Mozilla Thunderbird Mail and News:

Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
There is a fairly serious regression from thunderbird
  15.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 to 1:16.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.10.04.1.
The later version apparently no longer recognizes the Cacert CA
whereas the former does. I use a self-signed cert for my mail-server
with a key that is trusted by Cacert.org. This stopped working today
with said update. Upon connection to the mail server I'm being shown
an Add security exception-dialog saying that the certificicate isn't
trusted. I have run TB in safe-mode and it was the same. I've also
tried adding the Cacert root CA explicitly as trusted but TB told me
that the certificate is already in the pool (not really a surprise as
the old version of TB relied on it quite happily). I've now
downgraded back to the previous version and used pinning to prevent an
  upgrade.

Oh, and by the way, feel free to ignore this ticket as I believe in
Datensparsamkeit instead of routinely uploading oodles of private
information via apport. This ticket contains all the information you
need, if not, feel free to ask for clarification. I hope Ubuntu is
still about quality and not about being required to use certain tools
to report an issue (while being ignored in the bug tracker nonetheless
  ;))

  From reading this extract (
http://osdir.com/ml/os.solaris.opensolaris.desktop/2008-03/msg00020.html ):
Subject:Re: GConf/Thunderbird error on Solaris Nevada

Hi Mats,I believe you download the contribute builds of Thunderbird 2, and
run
  it on snv_70.

For some reason, the fix is upstreamed to Thunderbird 3 alpha, but not
  community version of Thunderbird 2.
Fixed in snv_68 means the fix was integrated to Thunderbird bundled
  with snv_68.

...it seems that the fix for this in thunderbird2 might require some manual
intervention as although the problem is well know, the fix was only
incorporated in the newer thunderbird3.

Have just checked the Karmic version at:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/thunderbird
which currently shows that version 2 of thunderbird is planned for Karmic
release.

As thunderbird3 is at Beta 3 right now I can perhaps see why debian and
ubuntu are sticking with Thunderbird2 just now.
http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/about/press/archive/2009-07-21-01

However it does seem a shame to ship a new release with this known
  gconf issue unpatched.

Bug description:
Yesterday I noticed that my Internet connection keeps transferring a lot of
data. After a while I checked with nethogs and discovered this was caused by
Thunderbird.
Today I got a warning that my HDD was near full.
In this 2 days, the mailbox had grown to 20 GB, while in reality it should be
around 1 GB (a fresh zipped backup has 600 MB).

I removed the .thunderbird folder and configured my IMAP mailbox from
scratch. The same happened again.
I think this is not related to a somehow special configuration of my PC bcs
my colleague discovered it's the same on his machine. Without checking, he
wouldn't have noticed yet bcs of a much bigger HDD...

We couldn't yet find out what exactly happens / which data is transferred
again and again.
I suspect it's related to the last thunderbird update.

  Ubuntu 12.04
  Tunderbird 16.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1

[Regression] Cacert CA certified certificate no longer recognized

Status in Mozilla Thunderbird Mail and News:
  Confirmed
Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu:

I hope Ubuntu is
still about quality and not about being required to use certain tools
to report an issue (while being ignored in the bug tracker nonetheless
  ;))

Thunderbird (Romanian) continuously opens the Help window

Status in Mozilla Thunderbird Mail and News:

Bug description:
  Hello,

After latest updates (as of January 30th or such), the Ubuntu
Thunderbird inadvertently opens the Help screen (
  http://support.mozillamessaging.com/ro/home ) while composing a new
message. This annoys the user trying to write a message...

Apparently, this is due to the usage of keyboard combinations in
Romanian, when using a standard US keyboard (right Alt + letter),
  where letter may be s, t, i, [, ], d, c, a, q, l, e

This bug is NOT present in other GNU/Linux distros (such as Fedora 16
or CentOS), so it might be specific to Ubuntu packaging.

  Thanks,
  Răzvan

just been patched upstream in trunk and will make it into Thunderbird

filed this bug report to make sure that the change gets noticed and
backported to Oneiric post-haste, as it's a pretty major usability
failing and there was no bug on LP that was tracking this upstream bug

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 222208]

2011-10-14 Thread Ludovic-mozilla
(In reply to Mikhail Barg from comment #53)
TB 7.0 is released already, and the issue is still present. Are there any
 reasons for not fixing it?

Because you didn't submit a patch :-)

user-id and password not sent automatically for rss-feed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

This is a bug I have seen for quite some time. I am in the make
hardy the best release there ever was-mood today and have brought
myself to really reporting every single bit of problem I have put off
for so long so somebody with the needed skills has a chance to fix it.

I subscribe to an RSS feed hosted on a password-protected https-site
in Thunderbird. TB works fine but periodically asks me for the
password although I have marked save password with password manager
in the dialog. In fact, the necessary fields are displayed filled in,
but the pop-up comes back to me from time to time and I have to hit
  the OK button.

I have set up a test installation which is exactly the same as the one
I am having problems with at https://clients.leggewie.biz/tester/.
The ssl-certificate is from cacert.org, so your browser might throw
that up at first. The user you need to get in is tb-tester and the
password is launchpad. The RSS feed is at

https://clients.leggewie.biz/tester/index.php?title=Special:Recentchangesfeed=rss
When you susbscribe to that in TB and save the login credentials, you
should have TB nagging you from time to time to with a login screen.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

This thunderbird error is given when clicking a mailto link. Instead
of using the thunderbird that's already open it tries to open a new
instance. Preferred Applications has Thunderbird select, but I have
also tried Custom command thunderbird %s. This has been tested on
10.04 and 10.10. Both result in this error if thunderbird is already
  running.

Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new
window, you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or
  restart your system.
