[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1712005] Re: External displays blank, kernel errors from i915/drm driver
Continued the battle for additional 1.5 hours. I verified that both displays work fine when connected directly to the laptop (1 DP) without the HP ultraslim docking station (2 DPs) between. After powering off the docking station and rebooting the system for Nth time, I finally got the pictures back. It's worth noting that the password prompt for disk decryption was not shown on external displays, nor the booting sequence. X11 login prompt was the first image. It seems this was somehow affected by the docking station. Resolved for now, but the ultimate cause stays unknown. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1712005 Title: External displays blank, kernel errors from i915/drm driver Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: My two external displayport connected displays worked fine until last thursday. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1551623] Re: package gconf2 3.2.6-3ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed
I had this same problem, and managed to pass through it by furiously closing down those error windows manually during the upgrade process. It kept popping new ones up at least 50 times, and continued then normally. When all the packages were upgraded, it finally popped up an error saying that some steps were not done and "the system may be in unstable state", without giving any kind of guidance on what to do next. Manual 'apt-get upgrade' or 'apt-get dist-upgrade' didn't give any errors or packages to upgrade, so I just rebooted. System seems to work normally after reboot. I had to manually run 'apt-get autoremove' to get rid of unused packages. # apt-get upgrade gconf2 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1560476] [NEW] intel drm stack dumps on dmesg + freezes
Public bug reported: These DRM warnings started to appear on dmesg after moving from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to 15.10. I can't notice anything on X usage when the messages appear, but the system has recently freezed twice when shutting down a VM running on Vmware workstation 11.1.3. That's why I started to monitor the logs. No syslog messages were written about the crash itself, except for some binary garbage. Laptop is hooked to a docking station, with two external DP monitors. Latest trace from syslog, 2 hours before the crash, is printed below.
