[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1174014] Re: No desktop after 13.04 upgrade

2013-10-28 Thread Mateusz Łukasik
** Package changed: openbox (Ubuntu) = lightdm (Ubuntu)

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop
Packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1174014

Title:
  No desktop after 13.04 upgrade

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Existing/working quantal Lubuntu system using lightdm/openbox. 'do-
release-upgrade' ran with no errors, on reboot system displayed
lightdm login screen. After entering password, login boxes
disappeared, leaving the lightdm background, and no further response
from system. Power button performed clean shutdown properly. Reboot
into kernel 3.5 shows same behavior, as does selecting different
environments (Lubuntu, LXDE, Openbox, Gnome, etc.). Mouse also
functions... Reboot into recovery mode, check dmesg/syslog, no errors
found except a udevd message that SYSFS is no longer used (related to
  Logitech mouse).

Corrected by booting to recovery mode and running root shell, 'mount
  -o remount,rw /', 'dpkg-reconfigure lightdm' and selecting lightdm as
display manager. After rebooting, desktop appears correctly.

Unsure if this is display manager or window manager related, was
unable to find any errors indicating either. Was unable to locate any
release notes, etc. showing this as a problem. Can pull logs as
  desired.
