[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1847426] Re: WebKitWebProcess crashed with signal 7

2019-10-09 Thread Muelli
I opened Epiphany, typed something into the address-bar, and clicked a
Google search result. Then epiphany showed "this page failed to load".

I don't know how reproducible it is. I prefer not to get into that
situation again, because I couldn't even log in properly, i.e. the
session crashed right away.

I've just been redirected here by apport on my Ubuntu 17.10. So either
the duplicate detection logic is flawed or this is not fixed as
advertised by the bug's status.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1734132] Re: LibreOffice doesn't seem to have a right click context-menu

2017-12-13 Thread Muelli
I've downgraded successfully, the about dialogue shows

Version: 5.4.1.2
Build ID: 1:5.4.1-0ubuntu1
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.13; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group

and at first I thought the bug was not present, because it worked as it should.
But then I tried again and it behaved the same as reported here in this bug.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1736996] [NEW] lni.cls depends on newtxtext.sty and ccicons.sty from texlive-fonts-extra

2017-12-07 Thread Muelli
Public bug reported:

in /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/lni/lni.cls:

   \ifPDFTeX
  \RequirePackage{newtxtext}
  \RequirePackage{newtxmath}
  \RequirePackage[zerostyle=b,scaled=.9]{newtxtt}

 {\txtt@upqtrue}%
 {\ClassWarning{lni}{You are using an old version of
 `newtxtt'.\MessageBreak
  Option `straightquotes' will not be used!}}%

It's possible to use the class with "nofonts" though.
That, however, fails with

! LaTeX Error: File `ccicons.sty' not found.

That file, according to
https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?searchon=contents=ccicons.sty=exactfilename=artful=any
is in texlive-fonts-extra (as seems to be newtxtext).

I conclude that texlive-fonts-extra is a dependency of lni.cls of the

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1734132] Re: LibreOffice doesn't seem to have a right click context-menu

2017-11-24 Thread Muelli
wait a second. That string doesn't look right, i.e. Version: 5.4.2.2
does not look like it's been downgraded. I expected 5.4.1. But I can't
make it show that. It seems that the libreoffice-common package is
defining that version string. That is indeed a newer version here for
me. Downgrading that seems to incur some other trouble:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1734132] Re: LibreOffice doesn't seem to have a right click context-menu

2017-11-24 Thread Muelli
Downgrading libreoffice-gtk3 to

Version: 5.4.2.2
Build ID: 1:5.4.2-0ubuntu0.17.10.1
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.13; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group

exposes the same behaviour.

Without scaling, it still behaves weird. The context menu is way off,
like half a screen away from where I right-clicked. I hope it's visible
in the attached screenshot.

Can I somehow tell it that it's okay to install the older versions
without having to type in every single app?

I don't see the context menu on the laptop's screen either.

But I've noticed funny behaviour in other (Gtk2) apps:
Sometimes when I want the "normal" menu from the menu bar to appear, it shows
up on the very top of the screen. I hope the screenshot shows what I mean. If
it happens, then I can try again and the menu appears normally.

Title:
  LibreOffice doesn't seem to have a right click context-menu

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:

  1) Run
  libreoffice -env:UserInstallation=file:///tmp/tmp_profile

  2) Create a new writer document.

  3) Type some silly stuff

  4) Right click on a word

  I'd expect a context menu to be shown, but there is none.
  The mouse cursor changes though as if the context menu was shown. Pressing
Escape make the cursor return to the normal caret.

  The attached screenshot is not really telling much. You can see how
  there is no context menu although I've just right clicked. The mouse
  cursor changed.

  The about dialog shows
  Version: 5.4.2.2
  Build ID: 1:5.4.2-0ubuntu0.17.10.1
  CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.13; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1330228] Re: Surface.create_for_data: Not Implemented yet.

Title:
  Surface.create_for_data: Not Implemented yet.

Status in py3cairo package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Kazam Screen caster, written in Python3, is using Cairo for doing
  graphics. Now, I've run into this:

  File "../kazam/frontend/window_countdown.py", line 181, in createDropShadow
  surface = cairo.ImageSurface.create_for_data(data, format, width, height)
  NotImplementedError: Surface.create_for_data: Not Implemented yet.

  It appears that Surface.create_for_data isn't implemented. After
  inspecting the weird code in the original tar.gz I confirmed this:

  static PyObject *
  image_surface_create_for_data (PyTypeObject *type, PyObject *args) {
cairo_surface_t *surface;
cairo_format_t format;
unsigned char *buffer;
int width, height, stride = -1, res;
Py_ssize_t buffer_len;
PyObject *obj;

// buffer function disabled
PyErr_SetString(PyExc_NotImplementedError, "Surface.create_for_data: Not
Implemented yet.");
return NULL;/* By BigW: Everything past here is dead code */

if (!PyArg_ParseTuple(args, "Oiii|i:Surface.create_for_data",
  , , , , ))
  return NULL;

  However, after checking couple of other repositories with pycairo,
create_for_data() function is different, without the weird return call.

  I've checked:

  http://cgit.freedesktop.org/pycairo/
  git://git.cairographics.org/git/pycairo

  Can this patch from 2011 be included in Ubuntu?
  http://lists.cairographics.org/archives/cairo/2011-December/022563.html

  And why am I the first one running into this? :)

Bug description:
  I lack the technical knowledge to know if this is a bug in udev,
  systemd or another component.

  After the switch to systemd, my 4G Huawei USB modem no longer
  functions as a modem unless I run usb_modeswitch to flip its state
  from USB mass storage. The command I issue and its output is below,
  which also show the Vendor and Product ID.

  Strangely, it does not do this every time. Yesterday when I updated
  using apt-get dist-upgrade upon reboot the modem worked as expected.
  But from a cold boot this morning it did not.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1076016] [NEW] Can't use Nokia N8 in Modem mode

2012-11-07 Thread Muelli
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to use my Nokia N8 with Linux. I have selected modem mode
and when I plug it in, dmesg has the following:

I tried to eject manually both, /dev/sr0 and /dev/sg1. To no avail.

Sure, Nokia suite mode works well enough, but it's quirky as I need to
set up the operator on my laptop. I would like to use it in modem mode.

I expected usb-modeswitch to automatically switch it from the CDROM
drive to a network interface (or whatever the phone implements).

FWIW: I tried to send to known Nokia messages, i.e. sudo usb_modeswitch
-v 0421 -p 0396 -M

avail.

  open links in new tabs and most importantly: Use the cut buffer to
  copy and paste.

  I've read https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/ubuntu-help/mouse-middleclick.html
and it recommends three finger tapping (I can't change that behaviour anyway,
can I? The mouse settings dialouge doesn't allow me specify whether I want to
have three finger tapping for middle click). Anyway, according to xinput, my
touchpad only recognises two fingers:

  So there seems to be a bug in Ubuntu forcing me to use three finger

  I can get my behaviour back by doing synclinent

  I expected Ubuntu to not have that regression in first place, then a

can I? The mouse settings dialouge doesn't allow me specify whether I want to
have three finger tapping for middle click). Anyway, according to xinput, my
touchpad only recognises two fingers:

  So there seems to be a bug in Ubuntu forcing me to use three finger
  tap altough I can't do it.

  I can get my behaviour back by doing synclinent
  EmulateMidButtonTime=75.

  I expected Ubuntu to not have that regression in first place, then a
  way to tell Ubuntu whether I want (or can) use three finger tap and
  then activate that option mentioned above automatically if I only have
  a two finger touchpad.

Title:
  Firefox CSS counter reset doesn't work in body

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I have a simple CSS, i.e.

  body {
  counter-reset: mySectionCounter, mySubSectionCounter;
  }
  h1 {
  counter-increment: mySectionCounter;
  counter-reset: mySubSectionCounter;
  }
  h1:after {
  }
  h1:before {
content: 'ARTICLE ' counter(mySectionCounter, upper-roman) ' - ';
  }

  the intention is to have the mySectionCounter with a very broad scope to use
it as h1 counter. Pretty much like the example here:
http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/pr_gen_counter-reset.asp
  But that doesn't seem to work as simple HTML fragment indicates:

  div class=section id=name
  h1a class=toc-backref href=#id7Name/a/h1
  pThe name of the Corporation shall be GNOME Foundation (the
quot;strongCorporation/strongquot;), a California
  Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation./p
  /div
  div class=section id=offices
  h1a class=toc-backref href=#id8Offices/a/h1
  div class=section id=principal-office
  h2a class=toc-backref href=#id9Principal Office/a/h2
  pThe principal office for the transaction of business of the Corporation
shall be determined
  and may be changed from time to time by the Board of Directors (the
quot;strongBoard/strongquot;)./p
  /div
  div class=section id=other-offices
  h2a class=toc-backref href=#id10Other Offices/a/h2
  pThe Board may at any time establish branch or subordinate offices at any
place or places
  where the Corporation is qualified to do business./p
  /div
  /div

  You can see the HTML with the embedded CSS here:
  http://people.gnome.org/~tobiasmue/bylaws2012/bylaws.html

  When viewing the CSS in Firebug, i.e. open the firebug view, then click the
CSS tab, the body element doesn't have a rule. So my guess is that the
counter-reset CSS command is not well recognized.

  I would have expected that evince can just work fine.

  The newer apparmor package works fine though. Hence I guess the evince
  (or pango?) package should block any older version of Apparmor than
  2.6.1.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 879926] Re: evince crashed with SIGSEGV in g_param_spec_pool_lookup()

2011-12-04 Thread Muelli
FWIW: It crashed for me, when I reopened a document while another evince
instance was open, but segfaulted. So the first evince crashed and while
the SIGSEGV handler was operating, I reopened the document, i.e. called
evince on the document, and it didn't open. Instead, it crashed. I don't
know how reproducible that is though.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 888556] [NEW] A script may be busy dialogue too wide

2011-11-10 Thread Muelli

experiencing this bug with, I file this bug against firefox.
