[Desktop-packages] [Bug 336736] Re: NetworkManager does not call /etc/network/if-pre-up.d scripts

Just another voice ... it would be good if this package worked
automagically as it suggests during the installation.

thanks,

Title:
NetworkManager does not call /etc/network/if-pre-up.d scripts

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

  Ubuntu 8.10, Linux 2.6.27-12-generic #1 SMP Thu Feb 5 09:26:35 UTC 2009 i686
GNU/Linux
  NetworkManager 0.7~~svn20081018t105859-0ubuntu1.8.10.1

I've been trying to get a script to trigger on the "pre-up" phase of
network configuration, however, NetworkManager doesn't seem to call
  it's dispatcher for "pre-up" or "post-down" events.

None of the scripts I put in /etc/network/if-pre-up.d ever got called,
so I added the following line to the top of the dispatcher script
  "/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/01ifupdown":

  logger -t $0 "called with $1 $2"

Where $0 is the name of the script, $1 is the network interface and $2
  is the network event.

After bringing some network connections up and down, I checked the
logs, and NetworkManager doesn't seem to be calling
  "/etc/NetworkManager/dispatch.d/01ifupdown" for either "pre-up" or
"post-down" events. The only entries that show up are for "up" and
  "down" events.

According to the changelog both "pre-up" and "post-down" events are
supposed to be supported as of version 0.5.1-0ubuntu12:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1211110] Re: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses

2016-03-29 Thread Nicolas Diogo
about running the OPENVPN via command-line

it is possible to have the option of using a file with the USERNAME & PASSWORD
for the OPENVPN stored in a safe location (if you believe that!)

you can add the following into the config:

auth-user-pass {fullpath to file with USERNAME & PASSWORD}

this file should only contain 2 line: the first with the USERNAME & the 2nd
with the PASSWORD

Good Luck!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1211110] Re: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses

2016-03-29 Thread Nicolas Diogo
Really OpenVPN is not a high enough priority for Canonical to have it fixed in
over 2 years ?!

I thought Ubuntu was supposed to be a replacement OS for businesses ...

anyhow, it is possible to run the configurations using the command line.

It is a joke to explain to users of other 'OSes' that Ubuntu does not
have a GUI that works with OPENVPN.

Apologies for the ranting ... but I do believe it to be necessary.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 980799] [NEW] network manager - mobile broadband not listed

2012-04-13 Thread Nicolas Diogo
Public bug reported:

hi,

i have just upgraded to ubuntu 12.04 x64 using Gnome3

and i have found that Network Manager does not show my Mobile Broadband when i
connect to my phone (N900).
the phone is connected and registered correctly.
i can turn mobile broadband ON but there is no Mobile Broadband connections
listed eventhough i have already created and used one with this very same phone
before.

to have my mobile broadband connection to appear on the list - i have to
open the network connections editor go into tab mobile broadband and
open my connection with the 'edit' option and save it.

after this i have my connection listed and by choosing it, i am able to
connect to internet (i am using it now)

i expected my connection to available as soon as the system detected a
phone/modem available.

please let me know what information you require me to collect to assist
with this report.

many thanks,

Nicolas
