[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1289239] [NEW] emapthy loads ./mozilla/plugins on chat start

2014-03-07 Thread Oleksij Rempel
Public bug reported:

On chart start, empathy trying to load ./mozilla/plugins. In case there is
pipelight plugin it will pull complete wine with it in to memory. In this case,
chat window will need some seconds to start.
IMO it is not only bad user experience, it is important security issue.
May be it is couse of some other chat related issues.

Ways to reproduce:
- install pipelight-multi
- login to the system and make sure no other NAPI related programs are started.
For example firefox.
- open terminal and run: watch ps aux | grep wine
- start empathy and open chat window.
- you will see how wine will start.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1087582]

2014-02-26 Thread Oleksij Rempel
Hmm... i do not see noticeable changes.
I tested this patches on ubuntu 13.10 with unity/compize deskotop.
Glxgears show same performance before and after patches - about 58fps.
C4ATM usage seems to be identical too.

Do you have some suggestions what should i test?

2014-02-26 Thread Oleksij Rempel
No, i can't reproduce initial bug.
After powertop optimisation i get about 20 wk/s. Just to make sure the suystem
is idle.
On plain Xorg i get 125fps. Without any glitches.
With and without patches i get same results.

2014-02-26 Thread Oleksij Rempel
You was right, there was no access to dri.
Now i tested it with sudo glxgears.
So results are absolutely unusable. with moving mouse fps will drop to 5fps.
With moving mouse - 60fps. Results are same, before and after this patch set.

straightens up and goes back to roughly 55-60 fps, and once I stop moving the

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1271566] [NEW] lightdm-remote-session prevent lightdm from selecting keyboard

2014-01-22 Thread Oleksij Rempel
Public bug reported:

On fresh install of ubuntu 14.04 password filed is not active on lightdm. Even
selecting it with mouse won't help. As workaround,
usually selcting keyboard layout and then selecting password field will allow
typing password.

Now, i found other workaround:
sudo apt-get purge lightdm
sudo apt-get install lightdm

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1247916] Re: programming mode, hexadicemal view works incorrectly

2013-12-28 Thread Oleksij Rempel
In Trusty it is even worse. After setting one bit - bit panel is locked.
Simple test:
- switch to Hex mode
- type
- remove bit 15
- result: panel is locked, and result is unusable for programming = 7,FFF×10³.
Result should be 7FFF. It works fine for bits lover then 12. After 12 it is
broken.

  WPA authentication - regression on 12.04 / ath9k

Bug description:
Since I upgraded my desktop to 12.04, I have observed a bad regression w.r.t.
my WiFi access. Everything else the same, I used to be very happy with my
USB-dongle TP-Link TL-WN721N (Atheros AR9271). I was connected always,
immediately, and reliably for days on a go.
After the upgrade, it connects only once out of 3, and asks repeatedly for
the WiFi key, over and over. Even when entering the correct one, it will not
connect and ask again ... .

To debug, I have released the strict WPA2, AES only on the access point to
any WPA*. The same thing can be observed, still, under these relaxed conditions:

11 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s

In order to provide clear information, I have switched between a
dongle TP-Link TL-WN321G and the one mentioned above; just by plugging
in and out; not touching anything else.

I attach the syslog, showing how quickly the tr73usb connects after I removed
the ath9k from the previous swap of the dongles From 19:40:44 it takes around
7 seconds to authenticate.
Then I remove this dongle and plug back the one with ath9k. The syslog
clearly shows that it takes close to one minute, until after a good handful
number of trials, to get it connected. I repeat: in most cases it doesn't. My
grouses are not on the long time, but that it usually times out before a trial
becomes successful.

I don't say this is a strong signal:
  Mode:Managed Frequency:2.447 GHz Access Point: 00:11:F5:22:24:40

Bit Rate=11 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm

Power Management:off

Link Quality=37/70 Signal level=-73 dBm

Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0

Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:559 Missed beacon:0
, but too strong to blame it. Especially since the said rt73usb and an even
older zd1211 (3Com) connect favourably.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1127067] Re: Asus Zenbook can suspend on lid if external monitor is attached

2013-02-16 Thread Oleksij Rempel
After some research i found a way to fix it:
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
lid-close-suspend-with-external-monitor true

now i see, it is not bug in gnome-settings-daemon. Instead it is bug in
gui, which do not provide this setting.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 946311]

2012-12-17 Thread Oleksij Rempel
It is not fixed on drm-intel-nightly (last commit cdb96764a45f87e). Same

screens instead of one.

you should report it upstream. Part of this bug was fixed for
SandyBrdige. If you do not use SandyBridge of IvyBridge, then it is
different bug.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 946311]

2012-10-30 Thread Oleksij Rempel
I just tested latest testing branch.
There are some interesting changes:
- back light on eDP is now on.
- eDP is recognised but stays blank
- if i press Fn+F8 to change display, i get corrupt display on VGA. Then, after
second press, both eDP and VGA work!!!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 946311]

2012-10-04 Thread Oleksij Rempel
I do not have commit any more.
BUt it was between your comment at 2012-09-17 16:49:05 UTC and my comment
2012-09-17 18:58:06 UTC :)
The definition it works is not really good here. Currently i have two states
of this bug:
- listed by xrandr, but not works
- not listed and not works

Now it not listed and not works, on my test at 2012-09-17 it was
listed by xrandr, but not works.
