[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1989508]

2022-10-14 Thread om
I've now installed the following packages on my f35 machines

hplip-3.22.6-1.fc35.test1.x86_64.rpm
hplip-common-3.22.6-1.fc35.test1.x86_64.rpm
hplip-gui-3.22.6-1.fc35.test1.x86_64.rpm
hplip-libs-3.22.6-1.fc35.test1.x86_64.rpm
libsane-hpaio-3.22.6-1.fc35.test1.x86_64.rpm

and they seem to get the job done, I've installed the driver for my HP
scanner and it worked.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1845892] Re: gedit crashes system when launched from terminal as root

2019-09-29 Thread Bashing-om
Guilherme; Hey -

The fact of the matter is that "sudo" is no longer the means to enable
'root's" use of GUI applications; as gksu is depreciated. Not a miss-
configuration of the system either.

Preferable is "admin://" - though there are 2 other alternates that I am aware
of.
If you do, as I, prefer "sudo" then try as
sudo -H gedit etc/apt/sources
to start a GUI App from terminal.

Else there is also "pkexec". To do so you may have to install the admin package:
sudo apt install nautilus-admin.
then: pkexec gedit

Please try these alternatives and advise on the result.

Still - look at this as a miss use of privileges rather than a bug until
proven otherwise.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1835118] Re: i don't know

2019-07-02 Thread Bashing-om
Joanna; hello

Provide some background information, please.

You show booting a 4.8 kernel on the xenial (16.04) release.
However !
linux-image-generic xenial == Version 4.4.0.154.162 (xenial)
linux-generic-hwe-16.04 == Version 4.15.0.54.56 (bionic)
xorg == Version  1:7.7+13ubuntu3.1 (xenial)

Maybe try a mainline kernel and Xserver stack to see if the issue us
reproduce-able ?

  Confirm close
  You are about to close x tabs. Are you sure you want to continue?

  4) What happens instead is one is not warned and the window closes.

  PARTIAL WORKAROUND: about:config -> browser.tabs.maxOpenBeforeWarn ->
  change from 15 to 2. This will pop up the confirmation box clicking
  the X and Alt+Space -> C only.

  WORKAROUND: Disable Ctrl+Q quiting the browser by installing keyconfig add-on:
  http://mozilla.dorando.at/keyconfig.xpi

  Then Tools -> Add-Ons -> Extensions -> keyconfig Preferences ->
  highlight Quit -> Disable

  Original Reporter Comments: I found a "workaround" that says to set
  "open to a blank page" somewhere else, and I set this, but it still
  doesn't warn me.

  I work from home and frequently spend an hour or so putting in data,
  all on one screen. If I accidentally hit the stupid little x (which is
  now in the left hand corner just where you don't need it, it is too
  easy to hit it by accident, but i can't change this, it comes with the
  distro), i lose all that work.

  Please tell me how to fix this terrible bug.

Possibly unrelated, but, Since seeing the warning and upgrading packages I have
experienced the system going into read only mode, and the superblock of the
disk being corrupted, per e2fsck.

I am holding off on upgrades until I see a fix in the cosmic repo for
this condition.

Thats right. Problem of non-functioning keyboard shortcuts for Texmaker
is resolved by removing appmenu-qt5, but no one wrote the command. So
here u go, open terminal and run these commands one by one, log out
system and login and u will b redy to rock.

sudo apt-get remove appmenu-qt5
sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove appmenu-qt5
