  [Impact]
gnome-shell provides its own built-in network manager client, so does not
require nm-applet to be running. however currently on a gnome-shell session,
  nm-applet will be running.

  [Test case]
Run gnome-shell session and see a nm-applet process running

  [Regression Potential]
None, nm-applet is not required in a gnome-shell session

  === Original Bug Report ===
nm-applet is no longer required under gnome-shell. Yet once again it is being
autostarted again (I already fixed this once, but seems the patch was dropped)

Why are people here not ensuring a secure connection by setting up

Status in “libreoffice” source package in Quantal:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: light-themes

When using Ambiance theme the body text in Ooo Writer is not black but
gray. This is quite uncomfortable when writing and thus renders the
theme in effect unusable. See attached png.

  [Impact]

   * Auto-colored text is illegible on dark background in LibreOffice.
   * Use High Contrast theme, unacceptable to customer.
   * User has to mnaually change the color from automatic to white.
   * This is affecting a flagship customer.

  [Test Case]

   * In Libreoffice Impress the text with the color automatic is hard
to read if the background color is set to black (example
  file/screenshot attached).

  [Regression Potential]

   * This patch is a backport form upstream, and has been tested. I do
not see any possible regression potential here.

  [Workaround]
Go to Tools - Options... - LibreOffice - Appearance - Font Color and
change the color from Automatic to Black.

Bug description:
Yesterday I noticed that my Internet connection keeps transferring a lot of
data. After a while I checked with nethogs and discovered this was caused by
Thunderbird.
Today I got a warning that my HDD was near full.
In this 2 days, the mailbox had grown to 20 GB, while in reality it should be
around 1 GB (a fresh zipped backup has 600 MB).

I removed the .thunderbird folder and configured my IMAP mailbox from
scratch. The same happened again.
I think this is not related to a somehow special configuration of my PC bcs
my colleague discovered it's the same on his machine. Without checking, he
wouldn't have noticed yet bcs of a much bigger HDD...

We couldn't yet find out what exactly happens / which data is transferred
again and again.
I suspect it's related to the last thunderbird update.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1061958] Re: [Quantal] thunderbird crashes on Lubuntu

2012-10-04 Thread Peter Matulis
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1038047 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038047

On Lubuntu I have methodically isolated the cause of *my* problem to the
following plugin: 'EDS Contact Integration'. Thing is, it's a default
plugin.

When I enable this plugin tbird starts but the instant I click on a
folder it crashes. Sometimes I need to click on a few folders (but so
far, never more than 3. I'm not sure why this can be). When I disable it
this behaviour is not present, even after much clicking.

I can repeat the above workaround and crash with great certainty.

This information also provided in bug #1038047.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1038047] Re: evolution-data-server has to be installed for Thunderbird 15 after upgrade to be executable, otherwise Thunderbird will crashs at runtime

I was brought here due to my original bug (bug #1061958) being made a
duplicate of this one. That might not be correct.

This happened after installing all (K)ubuntu updates from 2012-08-16.
The distribution is Kubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal.

There was a glib - error reported. Some dbus - error about not accessable
evolution settings.
After installing evolution-data-server-common. The error message was more
elaborate, but the error persisted.
After installing evolution-data-server and restarting Thunderbird, the
error was gone.

  I uninstalled evolution-data-server-common and evolution-data-

The error is gone, it seems to me that the bug was caused by the
  automatic upgrade to Thundrbird 15.
