Title:
[upstream] EDITING: Background Color button from Table toolbar should
change cell background instead of paragraph background

Status in LibreOffice:
  Confirmed
Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
 1. Launch LibreOffice Writer
 2. Insert table to the new document (Table -> Insert -> Table)
 3. Write some multirow text in table cells
 4. Try to change cell background:
4.1. place cursor on desired cell
4.2. select color from palette from "Background Color" drop-down
(located on Table toolbar).
4.3. click "Background Color" button on Table toolbar.

  Expected results:
background color of TABLE CELL (where cursor was) is changed to desired
color.

  Actual results:
background color of TEXT PARAGRAPH (where cursor was) is changed to
desired color.

  Workaround:
There is slow non-intuitive background - select whole cell, select color
from palette from "Background Color" drop-down (located on Table toolbar),
click "Background Color" button on Table toolbar.

  Affected versions:
 LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 Build ID: 350m1(Build:2) = pre-installed Ubuntu
12.04.5 LTS version;
 LibreOffice 4.2.7.2 Build ID: 420m0(Build:2) = pre-installed Ubuntu
14.04.2 LTS version;
 LibreOffice 4.4.2.2 Build ID: 40m0(Build:2) = pre-installed Ubuntu 15.04
version.

  Comment:
I can't believe how this bug is possible. It is inherited from OO.org (I
saw it on OO.org 3.2 in Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS too).
Microsoft Word 2003 and 2007 of course have normal behaviour with cell
background.
I attached pdf document with screenshots.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 997934]

2015-01-05 Thread Qubit
(In reply to Bryan Quigley from comment #2)
Sounds like bug 76238 has proposed a similar remedy. Perhaps one of these
two should be closed as a dupe of the other?

  Status - NEEDINFO

I'm fine with that solution, not sure which one to keep open though..

Bug 76238 is older, has more comments, and is already triaged to NEW, so
that one seems like a reasonable choice, even if this bug is a bit more
targeted to the specific problem.

Status - RESOLVED DUPLICATE

Feel free to make a comment on that bug adding some of the links you
provide below; it's very helpful to know that this is a common problem
affecting multiple people.

Spellcheck does not detect any mis-spelled words on 12.04

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Invalid
Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This has been the case since Beta 2.

  To reproduce:

  1) Type out a load of rubbish on the keyboard as well as a few correctly
spelled words. I used vmw;qbjk aoeuasnth aoeu house in the street
  2) Press F7 to initiate the spell check.

Actual Result: The spell check notifies the user of completion without any
recognition of errors.
Expected Result: The spell check should highlight each misspelled word and
offer alternatives.

WORKAROUND: Open the dash and run Language Support
  2) Under the 'Language' tab, choose another variant of English and drag it
above the US English so it takes precedence.
  3) Click Apply System-wide and log out.

On logging back in, spell check will work.

  Not reproducible in Xubuntu 32-bit.

2014-12-27 Thread Qubit

This is absolutely right. I did not realise that the appropriate dictionary
 was not installed when
the spellcheck is run with a language that has no spellcheck dictionary, I
think it should return and say no dictionary installed rather than just
 spellcheck complete.

Sounds like bug 76238 has proposed a similar remedy. Perhaps one of
these two should be closed as a dupe of the other?

Title:
Spellcheck does not detect any mis-spelled words on 12.04

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Incomplete

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 340051]

2014-11-17 Thread Qubit
(In reply to Markus Mohrhard from comment #7)
@christopher I still don't think that this is really a bug, we just behave a
bit different than excel. I suppose there will always be some differences
between calc and excel and not all are bugs.

If we're not going to regard this as a bug, I think that loss of
precision different behavior from Excel = a good candidate for
documentation.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 340051]

2014-11-17 Thread Qubit
(In reply to Christopher M. Penalver from comment #14)
Unfortunately, NEW is not an available Status

NEW makes sense if it's possible/likely to get fixed. My guess is that
most Calc devs are going to punt on it, at best.

 UNCONFIRMED doesn't apply

I don't like to see bugs sitting in UNCONFIRMED permanently, but I
haven't seen the case made for this bug yet. It's unclear to me that
(aside from docs) there is some code to write here.

as it's more than confirmed up and downstream, so it's REOPENED.

REOPENED is a very specific state that covers bugs that have been
patched/marked as FIXED by a dev, and then have been reopened because
the fix didn't work or was incomplete. That's not the case here.

I'm fine with this remaining open as a lowest priority enhancement request,
given the scope of this report is narrow and well defined, in that it's not
increase precision on everything, but an Excel calcuation parity request in
a well defined case as noted in the Description, and downstream.

As Markus noted, this is a pretty small component of compatibility.
We're not talking about the difference between, say, 10k and 500k rows,
we're talking about some nuances of floating-point math when operating
on HUGE (or incredibly *small*) numbers.

As well, this not being a high priority issue is both expected and
understandable. However, being able to seemlessly exchange documents between
colleagues using Excel, without the hassle of having to WORKAROUND
compatibility issues would be fair here. Especially in light of how
compatibility is a focus of the project -
 http://www.libreoffice.org/discover/libreoffice/ :
LibreOffice is compatible with many document formats such as Microsoft®
 Word, Excel...

LibreOffice and MS-Office will never be 100% perfectly compatible.
Things like 'seamless' compatibility will be difficult when there are
fonts that ship with MS-Office that we aren't legally allowed to
distribute, let alone nuances in the implementation of floating-point
arithmetic ;-)

If you're looking for precision regarding big or small number arithmetic
like this, I think that something like Sage or Octave would be an
appropriate software package to use.

Despite this, I've placed myself as the QA contact if you would have further
questions on the scope of this report.

Making yourself the QA Contact is great, but I remain skeptical that any
dev will pick this up. In fact, Markus explained the problem pretty
well:

The only solution would be to use exact numbers instad of floating point
numbers, but this will have even bigger performance impact.

It's pretty clear to me that Markus doesn't think that we should trade
performance for increased decimal place precision, and I'm inclined to
trust his judgment. I still think this bug should be marked as a dupe
and become a documented limitation of LO.

Question: What's you goal here? Do you want to match the behavior of
Excel, or just increase the precision of these calculations? The former
seems more doable than the latter.

(please change status back to 'UNCONFIRMED' after you leave a comment)

  LibreOffice 3.6
  Error saving the document loprob:
  Write Error.
The file could not be written.

+ Page Preview it comes up with a blank gray background rather than a
  preview.

  Original Report Comments:
+ print Nothing was printed, but libreoffice displayed the string 'gtk
printer' on the xterm console from which it was invoked, and left a directory
and file '/tmp/luppt6wq.tmp/luppt6ws.tmp' behind. The .tmp file is an exact
copy of the .ods spreadsheet with which LO was invoked.
The CUPS printer manager and logs in /var/log/cups do not show a job
corresponding to my attempt to print and I have no problem printing via other
apps such as Firefox. I do not believe this is a CUPS issue.

The behavior is highly sensitive to the contents of the spreadsheet. I
have attached the offending document and it repeatably demonstrates
the print/page preview problem described. However, if the final sheet
(Sheet10) of the document is deleted, the problem goes away and
print/page preview function properly once again.

Just open the attached odp file, save it as fodt and do a reload ...

Saving the example odp file as FODP, reopening it, and then examining

Numeric are not correctly display and either an empty field or 0 is shown.

Repro Steps:

1) Open test.odb
2) Database - Tables - (double click on) test-table
3) See that the numeric values are empty/0 as described by OP

Here's what I see:

id name count
0 foo 42
1 bar 4711

(In reply to comment #8)
This is certainly interesting. Normally I would close the bug as NOTOURBUG
here then (because it would be a distro bug only).

Agreed.

I have an idea about the
reason though, as I enabled mergedlibs on 4.3.2 and had to move some lib
into it to get rid of circular deps: dbtools -- which sounds like it could
 cause this trouble.

 Adding distro bug reference.

Okay, leaving this one for you, Bjoern. Feel free to assign it to
yourself, given that it's not something we can repro with current TDF
builds.

Title:
[KUBUNTU] Calc freezes screen when using drag-and-drop on cells

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Confirmed
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Dragging selected cells causes screen to freeze in KDE

  Steps to reproduce:
  Open a spreadsheet with Calk.
Select a group of cells with mouse.
  Drag selected cells.

  Outcome:
Screen freezes, cells not moved. Mouse is still responsive, but
typing/clicking does not work. Usually, switching to a vt then back will clear
this freeze.

  Reproducibility:
  100%

Using the right-click context menu or keyboard shortcuts for moving
  selected cells works as expected.

Removal of the package libreoffice-kde fixes this at the expense of
  the look-and-feel the package provides.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1185463]

2013-10-17 Thread Qubit
Looks like we can't confirm a regression, even after testing. Changing
'regression' - 'PossibleRegression' until we have independent
confirmation of a regression.

Bjoern: Please ask downstream OP to test against 4.1/daily build.

LibreOffice 4.0.2 / 4.0.3 /4.1.0 very slow when access forms with
  Parent-Child (subform) relationships

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Incomplete
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Several days ago I upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04 to 13.04.
Original repositories changes releases of LibreOffice and updated it

When access to forms with Forms/Subforms combination (Parent-Child
Relationship) the parent record display fine but the subform data
display takes long time (4 secs before update to 40 secs with the
  upgrade)

I changed from 4.0.2 (official repository) to downlodable 4.0.3 and turn
worst.
I changed ODBC and drivers from MySQL and the same result.
I reinstall MySQL server to avoid DB-Tables perfomance issues.
I checked CPU usage and almost takes 100% when navigated thru records

I had to downgrade to LO 3.6.6 version and works as expected (as long
  as Ubuntu 12.04).

  At present time I use:

  Ubuntu release 13.04
  MySQL 5.5.31

  Any Ideas?

  Libre Office 4.0 Paper Tray

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  New
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
The pre-installed LibreOffice 3.6(?) of Ubuntu 12.04 has a bug and the
paper tray selection does not work. It chooses always the paper from
  tray 1.

Therefore I installed LibreOffice 4.0 from ppa libreoffice-4-0. And
this version worked correctly concerning the paper tray selection

...until now - the current version 4.0.4.2 AGAIN BROKE this feature - again
everything is printed from tray 1!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 136740] Re: Eye of Gnome displays images in incorrect order

2012-09-24 Thread Qubit
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 388500 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/388500

I've sent a little patch on the upstream bugtracker, that adds 6 image
gallery sorting algorithms and a command line option for selecting the
one used. At the moment I personally use this, as I need to have control
of the gallery sorting order.

Title:
Eye of Gnome displays images in incorrect order

Status in Eye of GNOME:
  Confirmed
Status in “eog” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  1. Open folder of images with Nautilus 2.19.91
  2. Select order objects - order by date (not sure if that's the correct
english, I'm using German system)
  3. Images are listed in Nautilus window by date

  4. Open an image with Eye of Gnome 2.19.91
  5. Click arrow on menu bar to show next image
  6. The next image displayed is the next file alphabetically, not the next
image date-wise

Eye of Gnome should pick up the order-by information from Nautilus and
use this to determine next image displayed (like Windows does under
  similar circumstances ... ).

Imagine I want to cycle through all my holiday photos taken in, say,
  April ... I can't actually do this

My system is running Gutsy Gibbon updated to yesterday's state (ie
  1-Sept), I guess that means it's Tribe 5.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1017771] Re: LibreOffice Calc needs extra packages to use Address book

2012-09-04 Thread qubit
re:quantal -- I don't currently have a system running quantal to test
and confirm that the bug is no longer present. As I just passed the bug
information along from a question on the ask.LO site, if it works for
you on your quantal sytem, that's good enough for me as well :-)

Title:
LibreOffice Calc needs extra packages to use Address book

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  Per this question on ask.LO:
  http://ask.libreoffice.org/question/2573/error-the-component/

  ---
When I'm in LibreOffice Calc and try to assign an Adress [sic] book by the
File - Templates - Adress Book Source - Adress Data Source I get the
following error: The component (com.sun.star.ui.dialogs.AddressBookSourcePilot)
could not be loaded. Please start setup with the repair option.

  I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit) and LibreOffice 3.5.3.2 Build ID: 350m1(Build:2)
and don't know how to fix this / start the repair option.
  ---

The reporter made a follow-up comment describing the fix:

  ---
Installing the LibreOffice suite by the software center of Ubuntu fixed the
problem. By default Ubuntu only installs a few LibreOffice programs. Probably
the Adress [sic] Book is only usable if you have the full suite.
  ---

It looks like either the Calc package needs an extra package or two
added as a dependency, or the Calc stand-alone package needs to be
configured to disable the Address Book functionality.

  Thanks!
