Title:
No HDMI audio on Lenovo pro dock with T440s

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
pavucontrol shows Display Port/HDMI output as "(unplugged)" and cannot
be chosen as a sink. This is only a problem with the dock; audio
works when plugging HDMI through the laptop's DP input.

The audio did work with the dock in Ubuntu 14.04. Did something in
jack detection change? Anyway, my work around is to plug a 3.4mm
audio cable into the dock and power the speakers that way, but it
would be nice to use the HDMI audio again.

I would love to have a work around. I've attached the output from
alsa-info.sh, just in case this is useful.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1310594] Re: Lenovo Onelink Pro Dock - No audio via Dock-HDMI

2016-08-15 Thread Ray-Ven
** Summary changed:

- Lynx Point-LP HD Audio - no way to get sound working in 5.1 mode over HDMI
working
+ Lenovo Onelink Pro Dock - No audio via Dock-HDMI

** Description changed:

- With Lynx Point-LP HD Audio, there's no way to use HDMI 5.1 output. Video
works though. Does neither work with HDMI onboard nor with Lenovo Onelink Pro
Dock. I can activate the 5.1 profile, but it falls back to normal speakers (not
hdmi). If I click on Digital Stereo (HDMI) at this point and restart, stereo
works.
- Deleted all pulse/phonon related stuff in my Home Profile - no change.
+ Sound over Laptop HDMI works, but won't work over Dock with Kernels
+ newer than 2.16 in all ubuntu releases since trusty. Persists with
+ latest bios (state 16.08.16) Freshinstall makes no difference.

Title:
[Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon] Clickpad + Trackpoint cannot emulate
  middle button scrolling

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I'm testing with a freshly-updated Trusty Tahir daily (2014/March/2)
on a Lenovo X1 Carbon (2014 refresh) laptop.

IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad laptops have a Trackpoint: a red joystick
mouse in the middle of the keyboard. Historically this is
accompanied by three mouse buttons directly below the space bar. One
beloved feature: if you hold down the middle mouse button, you can
scroll a window up/down/left/right with the Trackpoint. This feature
is implemented in X with the Evdev Wheel Emulation properties of the
xinput driver for the Trackpoint device.

The latest Thinkpad laptops (X240, X1 Carbon 2014 refresh) remove the
hard buttons, and have a clickpad instead of a trackpad. One must
use the soft mouse buttons provided by the clickpad. But now we
have a problem. The clickpad soft buttons are implemented in the
Synaptic driver. And the Synaptic driver doesn't support middle-
  button-scrolling.

  If I run
% xinput --list-props TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint
I see property entries starting with Evdev Wheel Emulation. Setting them
on this device doesn't enable middle-button-scrolling.

  And if I run
% xinput --list-props SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
I don't see those property entries at all. I tried setting them manually
with xinput --set-int-prop but they were ignored.

One of the maintainers of Arch Linux got middle-button-scrolling with
a Trackpoint + clickpad to work! But he had to create a new driver.
It looks like he started with the evdev driver, and merged in support
for the Synaptics and Trackpoint devices. The resulting driver is
  published here:

  https://bitbucket.org/esrevinu/xf86-input-evdev-trackpoint

It would be fantastic if Ubuntu 14.04 also supported this feature. Thanks!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1199933] Re: apparmor parser in precise does not support block_suspend capability (needed for backported kernels)

2013-11-10 Thread Ray-Ven
Maybe this is a stupid question, but, if this is apparmor related, and
apparmor 2.8 has this patch included, why is apparmor 2.8.2 (from ppa
:apparmor-upload/apparmor-2.8) still complaining about block_suspend!?

Status in “apparmor” source package in Saucy:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
When running an up-to-date precise system with a
linux-image-generic-lts-raring HWE kernel (linux 3.8),
the precise verion of apparmor will deny all attempts of apparmored apps to
call the block_suspend system call:

  For example:
  type=AVC msg=audit(XX.XXX:X): apparmor=DENIED
operation=capable parent=1 profile=/usr/sbin/cupsd pid=1040 comm=cupsd
pid=1040 comm=cupsd capability=36  capname=block_suspend

But it is also impossible to add block_suspend to the apparmor profiles,
because the AppArmor parser does not know about it:
Setting /usr/sbin/cupsd to enforce mode.
Warning from stdin (line 1): /sbin/apparmor_parser: cannot use or update
cache, disable, or force-complain via stdin
AppArmor parser error, in stdin line 24: Invalid capability block_suspend.

This seems to make it impossible to have apparmor not deny block
suspend when using an LTS HWE kernel.

This seems to be related to bug #1052098.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1184313] [NEW] With firefox global menu bar integration activated in kubuntu dropdown menus don't work

2013-05-26 Thread Ray-Ven
Public bug reported:

If firefox-globalmenu is activated in add-ons after a uncertain time, dropdown
menues don't stay open anymore.
for Example: In Addon-Tab look for updates cannot be chosen anymore because
the menu closes immediately.
It seems, that it doesn't happen without firefox-globalmenu activated.
Maybe it's related to KDE somehow? Maybe it doesn't affect non-KDE-users.
This happens with new created firefox-profiles too. (don't know how the menubar
integration came in there anyway, KDEusers don't need it)

** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1049460] Re: [Intel HD4000] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x01000000 IPEHR: 0x01000000

2012-10-17 Thread Ray-Ven
I think this is a regression - had same issues with my older laptop (Lenovo
x220 and x201 Tablet) now got a x230
(00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor
Graphics Controller (rev 09))

Error is slightly different:
[drm:i915_hangcheck_hung] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung

Effect: X hangs - can only kill Xorg and restart it

Or ist this another issue?
