I am having the same issue that the hp-plugin tells me: Downloading plug-in from: Downloading plug-in: [\ ] 0% error: Plugin download failed with error code = 8 () error: file does not match its checksum. I experience this issue with Ubuntu 16.04 on an Asus UX303LN laptop. The temporary fix of installing xserver-xorg-video-intel seems to work for me too. I can provide log-files or test fixes if that would help us resolve the problem.
