[Desktop-packages] [Bug 668129] Re: [Realtek ALC892] Audio skips with intensive i/o like copying files
I am having hick-ups in games like Bit.trip Beat also with the ALC892 onboard sound with ubuntu 12.04/amd64. Is there any log/output I can supply? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668129 Title: [Realtek ALC892] Audio skips with intensive i/o like copying files Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I've got a practically brand-new AMD Phenom II X4 965 system with a RAID 1 mirror of two SATA-II drives and onboard audio running a clean install of Maverick. When I copy a large folder of pictures or something to another folder on the same array, I get random hiccups in the audio. This computer is quite fast and I imagine the software should be quite mature- so I don't know why I wouldn't be able to listen to music with Rhythmbox while copying files. At most, I also have Chromium and/or Firefox sitting idle in the background doing nothing intensive. Given prior experience, I'm inclined to believe this is a problem with pulseaudio, not alsa, but I don't know how to figure that out, and Ubuntu audio isn't really usable without pulseaudio anymore. (I tried bypassing pulse and just using straight alsa with this machine running Lucid. It was not pretty and ended in me wiping the machine.) [Desktop-packages] [Bug 439068] Re: Locking the screen while in a Guest Session makes the session unavailable
Having this problem in 12.04 It asks a password, but doesn't accept a blanc. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439068 Title: Locking the screen while in a Guest Session makes the session unavailable Status in The Session Menu: Fix Released Status in “gnome-screensaver” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “indicator-session” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Binary package hint: indicator-applet If you initiate a Guest Session, and then use the indicator-applet- session to lock the screen, you cannot unlock the screen to resume the session because the guest does not have a password. A blank password is not accepted. I would expect that either 1. Locking the screen would not work in a guest session, or 2. A blank password would unlock the screen, or 3. The guest would be prompted to create a temporary password to unlock the screen upon clicking the lock screen option. Clearly, the third option would be the best, as it's possible a guest user may wish to lock the screen, but it would also be the most difficult to implement. At this point, locking the screen causes the guest to lose any unsaved work, as there is no way to resume the session once the screen has been locked.
