[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1739649] [NEW] Touchpad does not work, "lost sync at byte 6"

2017-12-21 Thread Sami Sieranoja
Public bug reported:

Touchpad does not work most of the time. I think it randomly started
working once, but on several other tries/reboots, it does not work.

The device in question:
cat /proc/bus/input/devices

Using the following workaround I can get it to work, but with limited
functionality:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/922092/lifebook-e546-touchpad-on-ubuntu-16-04

sudo modprobe -r psmouse
sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps

The problem with this fix is that two finger scrolling is no longer
possible with the touchpad and the laptop has no other way to scroll.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1286816] [NEW] brightness control breaks after 13.04 - 13.10 upgrade on lenovo e325

2014-03-02 Thread Sami Sieranoja
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from 13.04 to 13.10 brightness control on unity no
longer works. When pressing the brightness control keys, the brightness
progress bar is shown, but the change has usually no effect.

Sometimes it does change to from 100% brightness to very dim (0%?), but
doesn't change back. Usually it has no effect. In 13.04 it worked fine.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 952524] [NEW] changing mouse sensitivity in system settings has no effect on trackpoint (lenovo e325)

2012-03-11 Thread Sami Sieranoja
Public bug reported:

TO REPRODUCE:
1. Open mouse and touchpad settings in System Settings
2. Put sensitivity and acceleration to max.
3. Doubleclick on the face

RESULT: Trackpoint is as slow as it was before. This leads to me having
to use more pressure on the trackpoint, which causes my fingers to hurt
after a while.

EXPECTED RESULT: Mouse pointer should move faster while using
TrackPoint.

My computer Thinkpad Edge E325 is Ubuntu Certified, so I would expect
this kind of feature to work.

WORKAROUND: On the following page I found a script that allows to change
sensitivity:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Talk:How_to_configure_the_TrackPoint

A value of 165 (instead of 180) was perfect for me. The default is 128.
#!/bin/sh

T=`find /sys/devices/platform/i8042 -name name | xargs grep -Fl TrackPoint`

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 875002] Re: choosing quit from unity launcher doesn't close rhythmbox if music is playing

2011-11-12 Thread Sami Sieranoja
If a user chooses quit, but the program doesn't quit, it is clearly a
usability problem. I don't know if it's a bug in Unity or Rhythmbox,
but it's a bug nevertheless.
