[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1307274] [NEW] gedit crashes and locks up the system when dragging tab bar
Public bug reported: I originally reported this bug upstream, and now it appears to be fixed upstream. I will repost here the parts I believe are most relevant. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=679355 It is my hunch that the bug is actually in a gtk library. I'm using Gedit_3.4.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit. I'm reporting a bug that is also experienced by someone using Gedit 3.3.0 on Fedora 16. Because of this, I hope it's safe to presume this is an upstream bug. fedora bug link https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=808789 Description of problem: Gedit crashes and freezes system when dragging a file from one Gedit window to another. Reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Gedit from the menu, and open a file in that Gedit. 2. Use nautilus (or any file manager) to open another file with Gedit. (It will open in a new Gedit window) 3. Try to combine the files onto a single Gedit window by dragging the files tab. Results/symptoms: -XWindows gets locked up with a dragging mouse cursor. -System must be hard rebooted, or Gedit killed from TTY1 for the system to continue. -The mouse pointer turns into a clenched (dragging) icon. -The mouse can still be moved around the screen, but has no more capability to function. -Pressing Alt+F2 still brings up the Run dialog. -In the Run dialog, I can still type in keys on the keyboard, but Space and Enter (and perhaps all whitespace?) are not being received. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 988251] Re: Nautilus cut, copy, paste, move and rename options are greyed out and stop working
This bug is almost a year old now. As an open source developer, I would be ashamed of letting such fundamental bugs like this go on so long. F**k features and give me some basic functionality. Anyway, I found a solution to the problem- switch to another filemanager like Thunar. It's light-weight and fast. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988251 Title: Nautilus cut, copy, paste, move and rename options are greyed out and stop working Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The problem appears while using the mouse trying to copy or cut / paste links, folders or files from one location to another. The files are on the local network on a nfs v3-server (Ubuntu 10.04). Permissions are correct and chmod is 755 (as it has always been). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 988134] [NEW] gedit opening twice instead of in new tab
Public bug reported: I apologize if in advance if I'm filing this bug in the wrong place. This problem is related to gedit, but may be related to other programs too?
