[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1162164] Re: during installation of kubuntu 13.04 alpha1 on an older hardware system from 2007/2008 in the middle crash happens and kubuntu is installed only half - doesnt work
hello! i just remembered one other thing about this particular installation - because iwas in a country with low internet speed - i chose - a difference from previous installltions - the install WITHOUT downloading and updates AND ALSO WITHOUT installing 3d party programs at the same time durign installation i noticed that (becuase of long time that passed - which was unusual if those packages were just copied from lvie cd) that despite me clicking NOT to download/install any updates some downloading still occured... for example for language packs - which were after all but default (language) removed - strange practice to donwload a pack from which you need only 1 (2) languages-- i mean... on slow interenet conncetions this makes the installation around 4 hours long... there was NO WAY i could install kubuntu there - even for the error to happen around 4 hours had to pass.-... and th computer itself is not so bad or slow... :) maybe im wrong...but i got this observation durign innstalltion and i would just like to (maybe it helps) to share it with you :) nice day! hello! a short answer because internet speed here in iran is really slow... i did a FRESH install..complete fresh install of kubuntu on a NTFS drive that was before windows xp. in installer i formatted the drive ext4 and tried to install kubuntu. also i didnt modify ANY file and used only installer...however i must admit ...the first time it didnt work - wit hther same error first i tried to install iot again -over the existing installation without formatting... then with same error i tried woith clean intall with formatting...and when it didsnt work...again with reinstall without formatting... and after that after 1 million problems :) i could also send this report ... :) during this time i didnt modify anything..also the installations is from a DVD which i burned in slovenija... and not from usb... hope my answers were helpful :) nice day Simon :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to cups in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1162164 Title: during installation of kubuntu 13.04 alpha1 on an older hardware system from 2007/2008 in the middle crash happens and kubuntu is installed only half - doesnt work Status in “apt-clone” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: hello! i tried to install kubuntu on a coputer which is around 5 years old.
