[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1808927] Re: On fullscreen mode, video playback is somewhat traslucent in Firefox

2018-12-17 Thread Star Man
** Description changed:

  Description:

*In Mozilla Firefox browser and when playing HTML5 fullscreen videos,
elements on the Gnome 3 desktop (like floating windows) are somewhat still
visible (video isn't 100 % opaque).
*The issue occurs only when video is playing, not when paused. Transparency
occurs mainly when displaying dark tones (like blues), but not black.
*Tested with Youtube, Dailymotion and Vimeo videos.
*Tested with official Ubuntu repository package and also with Snap package:
issue occurs on both of them.
+ *chromium-browser package from Ubuntu repository also tested: issue isn't
present.

encrypted home-directory is not unmounted on logout

Status in gdm3 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in gnome-session package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Current Situation:

If you log out from an user account with an encrypted home directory,
it is not automatically unmounted and encrypted again.

  Expected behaviour:

If I log out from an user account with an encrypted home directory, Id expect
the homedir to be unmounted and encrypted again.
  Stepts to reproduce:

log into an account with encrypted home directory. (lets call it: user)
  Log out again
log into another account (which has sudo rights, lets call it: user2)

and now enter the following into a terminal:

  user2@ubuntu: sudo su
  user2@ubuntu: ls -la /home/user

you can see the files of the user

  Reasons:
This is a security issue, because as a user you can reasonable expect your
data to be safe, if you log out. if you would simply log in as another user but
keep your data accessable you would simply switch user, instead of loggin out.
Many users only suspend their laptop while carrying it with them. Logging out
and suspending the user expects to have at least the home directory encrypted.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1499756] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS freezes

2015-10-06 Thread Star Man
I did as recommended and unchecked that option.
The browser works perfectly now. No hanging, no freezing. I can now add
extensions, browse configuration menues and browse the internet without
troubles.
It seems the problem is caused by the hardware acceleration routines. Hope it
can be solved.

This thing is completely freezing my system; screen goes black and
there's no way to call any of the TTYs. No error dump or anything. After
a while, the only thing to do is to hard-reset the system pressing power
button. After restart, no error information or any way to check what
happened in the first place.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1499756] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS freezes

2015-10-04 Thread Star Man
Okey, I just managed to trace and dump the process activity into a zipped log
file using 'strace' command.
I don't know if it'll help, but it's better than nothing, since the system
doesn't show any process cracs warning or activity dump.

By the way, my distro is Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS amd64

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1398008] Re: Caps. Lock LED keyboard indicator not working

2015-02-26 Thread Star Man
Hello Christopher; unfortunately, due to very low performance of Unity,
I had to get rid of Ubuntu Trusty and install Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS on
my laptop. It performs much better than the other, so I think I'll stick
with it from now on.

I'm not aware if both editions share the same keyboard driver, but I can
surely tell you that so far using Ubuntu GNOME I haven't experienced any
issue with the keyboard again.

Does that help? I hope so my friend. Thanks!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1397985] [NEW] File browser crashes moving files

2014-12-01 Thread Star Man
Public bug reported:

Linux 3.13.0-40-generic #69-Ubuntu SMP Thu Nov 13 17:53:56 UTC 2014

Again me. I just reinstalled the system and noticed this bug only

I'd like to add, as a comment, that I tried completely purging the

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1070543] Re: [MacBook4, 1, Realtek ALC889A, Speaker, Internal] Only right bass speaker is working, left is not.

2013-05-07 Thread Star Man Aquarius
Ok, so I sent some emails to the author of the patch.
He suggested me to try kernel v3.9 since drivers are quite different. But since
installing custom kernels would avoid me for receiving support, I cannot do
this for now.
He also suggested hda-analyzer, but as I'm not really a tech-guy, I rather keep
my hands off there since I wouldn't know what I'm doing.
Another suggestion was to figure out pin configuration, again, above my
possibilities.
So, I guess it'll be another 6 months until new kernels are provided from
Canonical...
But, if there's still the possibility for a turnaround, please let me know, and
how can I help.
Thanks.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1174918] [NEW] Rhythmbox won't resume playback after pause

2013-04-30 Thread Star Man Aquarius
Public bug reported:

Linux 3.8.0-19-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 17 18:16:28 UTC

·What I expected to happen:
After unpausing a song, it should continue playing.

·What happened istead:
After pausing a song, Rhythmbox buttons continue to appear responsive, but
won't resume it after unpausing. Then it hangs completely. Process must be
killed in order to close the window, so it can be reopened later to continue
listening to music. If paused then everything starts again.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1073626] Re: Constant false gpu hang system alerts

still present.

Constant false gpu hang system alerts

  Confirmed
Status in “xdiagnose” source package in Quantal:
  Fix Committed
Status in “xdiagnose” source package in Raring:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  [Impact]
Apport hook is triggered for GPU lockups in the stable release, in cases
where the system did not freeze. We no longer need bug reports about GPU
lockups for quantal (or other stable releases), so can simply disable the hook.

  [Test Case]
On Intel gfx hardware running quantal, wait until a GPU hang occurs.
The apport hook should not generate a .crash file in /var/crashes.
The apport hook should not trigger a display of the bug reporting dialogs in
the current or subsequent sessions.

  [Regression Risk]
The patch comments out a udev rule, so is very low risk of regression.

The side effect of this change is that GPU lockup bugs will no longer
be collected for quantal. This is acceptable; we are mostly just
interested in lockups in raring and newer at this point.

  [Original Report]
  My system:

  I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit
  My system is a Macbook4.1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz / 2GB RAM / GMA X3100 with
144MB shared memory / Intel HDA audio.
The image I used for installing the system is Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit (AMD64) +
MAC.

  The issue:

Every time I log onto my session, a system program error dialog is
displayed. (I'll try to translate as possible since my system is
  running in Spanish)

  · There's is a system program problem detected. Do you want to inform
  this now?

I pick Yes, and then I've got to enter my password. Then, another
dialog appears displaying the following message:

  · We're sorry. Ubuntu 12.10 has experienced an internal error. If you
continue to have problems, try to restart the system.
[marked checkbox] Send a bug report to help solve this issue.

[*] Picking details it shows a long list of components wich start
with the lines Executable path | /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-
  intel.py

Before I even pick the continue button, another system dialog pops
up onscreen displaying the following message:

  · Apport has detected a possible GPU hang. Did your system recently
lock up and/or require a hard reboot?

Since neither of the two were needed, I pick No. Then, the system
  pop up another dialog:

  · Your display manager log files may help developers diagnose the
bug, but may contain sensitive information such as your hostname. Do
you want to include these logs in your bug report?

I pick Yes. In the next Apport dialogue Would you be willing to do
additional debugging work?, I pick Yes.

Several minutes later, nothing happens yet. No other system dialogued
showed up. I never did any debugging work as I choose to do.

Meanwhile, the dialogue that displays the details of the internal
error (in the line marked with [*] on this report), now has completed
the list. It took more than two minutes to do. I mark the checkbox for
Send a bug report to help solve this issue, and then I pick
  Continue.

Nothing else ever happened. I don't even know if the bug was reported.

This issue will happen again some time later, and so on, being really
  annoying.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1085169] Re: LibreOffice Menus Stop Working even with libreoffice=1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 and indicator-appmenu=12.10.3-0ubuntu2.1

2013-02-23 Thread Star Man Aquarius
I'm using LibreOffice 4 installed from the original DEB files from the official
TDF page.
Currently, there is not Unity's Global Menu integration. Each window has its
own menus.

That is, the menu is showing at the top of the screen, and you can
select a menu item, however nothing happens. Once the behaviour
starts, none of the menu items work, including File Exit. The only way
to get the menus to work again, is to quit LibreOffice and restart the
  program.

This has been reported in Writer and Calc so far.

This happens regardless of the video driver, and on 32 or 64 bits.

This is with libreoffice version = 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 and
  indicator-appmenu 12.10.3-0ubuntu2.1 (currently in quantal-proposed)
ONLY. If you do not have these installed, you are hitting bug 1064962
  or bug 1075263 resp..

  WORKAROUND:
  - Use right-click menus, toolbar buttons or keyboard shortcuts, or
  - Close and reopen the document

starts, none of the menu items work, including File Exit.
