[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1875528] Re: Extra frozen / stuck mouse cursor after auto screen lock / sleep

2021-01-21 Thread Syver Stensholt
I'm not having this issue anymore, and I didn't really pay attention to
the issue in the meanwhile, but I think it disappeared when I switched
from Ubuntu 20.10 to Pop OS 20.10.I don't know if that's useful at all,
but looks like the issue is vanilla Ubuntu only.

  single active mouse cursor.

  What happened instead:

After my computer had gone to sleep and I logged in I noticed a second
frozen/stuck mouse cursor was on screen and was rendered in one place

I recently upgraded to 20.04 from 19.10 but the same issue was

Logging out completely then logging back in again removed the extra

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1890141] Re: Can't fullscreen, or windows get automatically un-fullscreened, when using fractional scaling

2020-09-15 Thread Syver Stensholt
Just came across another case, just to keep the ball rolling I'll
describe it here. I tried fullscreening HBO Nordic, and it worked for 10
seconds the first time. Then the same thing happened as shown by my gif
and laurenz video. After first fullscreen though, fullscreening it again
triggers the glitch right away.

Some websites like YouTube will attempt to fullscreen, just not

second and de-fullscreen after that. Some games act weirdly in
fullscreen mode (this might be related, as I've never had this issue

  EDIT: This only happens when fractional scaling is enabled. My config;
main 4K screen at 150% and secondary 1080p screen to the right at

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1890141] Re: Can't fullscreen, or windows get automatically un-fullscreened, when using fractional scaling

2020-08-11 Thread Syver Stensholt
The behavior of the bug really varies between apps and boots. Now, for
example, YouTube fullscreens fine without any glitching of the video or
artifacts on the other screen. However Minecraft fullscreened at launch,
but with half of the other screen being black. When I tried unfocusing
and focusing Minecraft, it would turn both screens black for a second
before appearing only maximized and not fullscreened (like experienced
before with other games). It won't fullscreen again unless i quit the
game and relaunch it.

Bug description:
Same issue as this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
  /gnome-shell/+bug/1863391

Some websites like YouTube will attempt to fullscreen, just not
successfully. Other websites, like Netflix, will fullscreen for a
second and de-fullscreen after that. Some games act weirdly in
fullscreen mode (this might be related, as I've never had this issue
  before now: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-
  linux/issues/2429).

  EDIT: This only happens when fractional scaling is enabled. My config;
main 4K screen at 150% and secondary 1080p screen to the right at
100%. YouTube fullscreens fine on the sec. screen (1080 100%).

This is a gif I posted in the related bug report showing exactly what
  happens: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-

GNOME fractional scaling: fullscreen video misbehaves

Bug description:
When scaling the desktop to e.g. 150%, fullscreen video does seem to
trigger constant changes of the scaling factor: the system switches
every 0.5s from 150% to 100% to 200% or things like those.

The problem does not occur, when there is another windows present

Also, KDE doesn't have this problem.

The problem exists in freshly installed 19.10 and 20.04, too. I couldn't find
any reason, why sometimes firefox fullscreen videos do work and sometimes not.
Video playback (e.g. GNOME video player or VLC) does not work properly in
19.10, whereas it works most of the time in 20.04.

How can I help to dig into this?

  3) What you expected to happen: fullscreen video playback in scaled mode
  4) What happened instead: screen starts changing (randomly?) the scaling

The other bug submission seems to be marked "fixed". I am still facing
this issue though, even with a later version of mutter than they
described as "patch" in the other thread. I added a gif to show
precisely what happens.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1875528] Re: Extra frozen / stuck mouse cursor after auto screen lock / sleep

2020-07-31 Thread Syver Stensholt
I'm also having this issue, even with the latest Ubuntu 20.04. I tried
taking a screenshot of it with Spectacle, but when it asked me to draw
rectangular region both my screens blacked out and came back every
second. This removed the extra cursor too, which is weird and might
suggest the two issues being related. I've also had problems with
fullscreening both YouTube and Netflix. Could it all be related to
fractional scaling? (I'm a noob, pure speculation)

Extra frozen / stuck mouse cursor after auto screen lock / sleep

Status in Mutter:
  Unknown
Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Expected:

After my computer had gone to sleep and I log in I should see only a
  single active mouse cursor.

  What happened instead:

After my computer had gone to sleep and I logged in I noticed a second
frozen/stuck mouse cursor was on screen and was rendered in one place
  over any active application windows.

I recently upgraded to 20.04 from 19.10 but the same issue was
  occurring in 19.10 as well.

Logging out completely then logging back in again removed the extra
  frozen cursor.
