[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1268257] Re: nvidia-331-updates 331.38-0ubuntu3: nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to build, with only error: objdump: '... .tmp_nv.o': No such file
I just did security update Linux Image 3.16.0.34-generic. It seems as if every time that I do the next security update there is a problem as is evident by this bug report: nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to build. I use this fix (This seems to fix it (at least for one version upgrade) for many people $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-331 after that... $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-331-uvm (some users may be on the versions of these packages suffixed with -updates ) and the update completes and I restart. I'm not an advanced Ubuntu tech but something must be wrong with the nvidia driver or the kernel that does not allow for security updates to complete. What is causing this problem? I'm about to have an old friend put Ubuntu15.04 on his computer and I hope that this bug is fixed before that update. By convincing him that WIN is more problem for him, I suggested Ubuntu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-331 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1268257 Title: nvidia-331-updates 331.38-0ubuntu3: nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to build, with only error: objdump: '... .tmp_nv.o': No such file Status in NVIDIA Drivers Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-331 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-331-updates package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-340-updates package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-346 package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-346-updates package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: **WARNING:** This bug has been widely reported and has *many* automatic subscribers. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 869736] Re: dragging languages in system settings / language support doesn't always work
12.10 Language Support but, as with 11.10, seems to exist. Since I am unable to switch back to English(US) I am unable to read system that is in Greek. What is the resolve for this bug? ** Changed in: language-selector (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid ** Converted to question: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+question/215261 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to language-selector in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/869736 Title: dragging languages in system settings / language support doesn't always work Status in “language-selector” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: If I select System Settings and language support, it should be possible to select one of the installed languages and drag it up and down in the list (as the dialog directs you to do). However, this never works for me when I first open the language support window. If I switch to other windows or tabs and back again, sometimes dragging starts to work, but I can't see a repeatable pattern. In case it's relevant, when I first start language support it says that some packages are not installed (specifically, the South African English support for LibreOffice, libreoffice-za, which I don't want because I don't have English (South African) installed so I tell it to remind me later).
