For anyone following, the referenced patch is not available in kernel 3.8. 3.11 does contain the patch. However, after upgrading, analog capture still does not work. Instead, on switching capture channels, I see capture write error (DMA or IRQ trouble?) in dmesg and the capture application either exits or hangs.
