[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1863981] Re: espeak-ng cannot load mbrola language files

2020-02-26 Thread Valdisvi
To use MBROLA voices you have to install:

1. MBROLA synthesizer:

sudo apt-get install mbrola

2. MBROLA voices (i.e. voice database files) e.g.:

sudo apt-get install mbrola-de4

Note, that not all MBROLA voices, which are configured in eSpeak NG, can be
installed as standard packages. More MBROLA voices can be downloaded from here:
https://github.com/numediart/MBROLA-voices/

Files located in .../espeak-ng-data/voices/mb are actually mapping files
between eSpeak NG phoneme names (phonemes) and phonemes used in MBROLA
voice databases. As described here: https://github.com/espeak-ng/espeak-
ng/blob/master/docs/mbrola.md

Title:
espeak-ng cannot load mbrola language files

Status in espeak-ng package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I tried using all of the mbrola files named by espeak-ng --voices=de :

Pty Language Age/Gender VoiceName File Other
Languages
   5 de --/M German gmw/de

   7 de --/F german-mbrola-5mb/mb-de5
   7 de --/F german-mbrola-7mb/mb-de7

  espeak-ng -vmb-de1 "Test"

  gives me:

mbrola: FATAL ERROR : cannot find file /usr/share/mbrola/de1/de1 !
mbrowrap error: mbrola closed stderr and did not exit
Error: Could not load the specified mbrola voice file.

It does speak, though, seemingly using a default voice.

  /usr/share/mbrola does not exist.

The files actually seem to reside in

  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/espeak-ng-data/voices/mb

I doubt that I can solve this via a simple symbolic link because
seemingly the expected directory structure is different: all mbrola
files are in the mb directory; there are no subdirectories like
  /de/de1 or similar.

2016-09-01 Thread Valdisvi
Following idea from comment #40, if bug still exists it's enough just to press
Ctrl+F7, to push display refresh.
But at 2016-09-01 with updated 4.4.0-36-generic kernel and X.org server version
1.18.3 this bug seems fixed after locking/unlocking.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1181247] [NEW] Class dialog hangs up in Dia for 64-bit version

2013-05-17 Thread Valdisvi
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS, kernel 3.2.0-41-generic, x86_64
Open dia and choose UML editor, then create new class and open it (Alt+Enter or

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 865672] Re: Adobe Flash Player Settings dialog does not respond to mouse clicks

2013-03-19 Thread Valdisvi
It still is not fixed in Ubuntu 12.04.2 on March 19, 2013.
However my understanding is, that it affects only 64-bit editions, using Compiz
(3D accelerated) Unity.
For me checking off of hardware acceleration did't work, but I found that
awkward workaround for this is logging into 2D session (click on Ubuntu logo in
login screen and select Unity 2D).

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
  1) Open a flash file. Be it a game, video, website, etc.
  2) Right click on the flash player and select Settings
  3) Try to click on something in the dialog box such as a checkbox or a tab

  What is expected to happen:
The dialog box responds to user input, e.g. checking a checkbox or switching
to a different tab.

  What happens instead:
The dialog box does not respond. Nothing happens when the user interacts with
it. The user must refresh the page to exit the dialog box.

  Workaround #1:

  1) Go to
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager06.html#117645
  2) Configure your Flash Player settings using the Settings Panel

  Workaround #2:
  1) Open Flash in fullscreen mode
  2) Open Settings and configure your preferences

  ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
Adobe flash player is configured on my system to ask before a website sets a
flash cookie, so if a video (eg on youtube) is played, a dialogue box will pop
up asking me whether or not to allow the website to store a cookie on my
machine. However, nothing happens when I click on either 'allow' or 'deny', so
the box stays put and I can't view or control the video playing beneath it.
On this machine I upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10; in 11.04 there was a program
for adjusting the flash player settings in the System Settings control panel,
but that program is no longer there and not accessible via the dash, so there
is no obvious way to just configure flash to allow all cookies and avoid the
dialogue box.

  Workaround: using Unity 2D instead

Notice : the problem has been already corrected two years before :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/flashplugin-nonfree/+bug/410407?comments=all
I'll add that it's perhaps because of Compiz : It works with Unity 2d, KDE,
Gnome-Shell, Gnome-Session-With-No-Effect BUT it affects Ubuntu 3D,
Gnome-Session Fallback and Cairo-Dock session

Bug description:
This bug is a long standing one for me in Dapper but it becomes more
and more frequent in recent Dapper beta.

Unfortunatly, there's no way I can reproduce it.

Symptoms : the mouse buttons (all of them) stop working without any reason.
Seems to happen mainly when surfing with Epiphany but not only.

In fact, it's just like my mouse was in another dimension. I use focus
follow pointer and it doesn't work anymore. I can see my cursor and moving it
: the system just ignore it. No more click, no more focus following pointer.

Also, the keyboard keeps working perfectly. By using shortcut keys, I
  can continue working normally.

The workaround to have the mouse again is hopefully very simple : use
the change desktop shortcut. The alt-tab shortcut is also working.
Yes, it's strange, but they are the only two shortcuts I've found that
bypass this bug ! Strange isn't it ?

My mouse is a PS/2 Logitech MX310. The workaround seems to be the
proof that it's not an hardware failure.
