In this case it seemed like gdm3 just restarted all of a sudden while I was
in the application Tilix messing with the app dialog.

Please note that sometimes my screen will freeze. However, when I unplug
the HDMI and plug it back in again it will often release and I can work
again. The problem seems to be less frequent now that i have switched to
using the Video only (DP 1.4a).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1906316] Re: Xorg crash

2020-11-30 Thread Vonschutter
I do not understand why this is so complicated. You dont see Microsoft
or apple or google asking you to log in to a web page and diddle with
some kind of ticket system... just ask for permission and collect the
info. If you need to probe more and dig deeper, fine... go a head... Ask
if you may contact the user... why all this?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1894097] Re: Unable to switch from HSP to A2DP on BOSE blutoot headphones

2020-09-06 Thread Vonschutter
My apologies for the size of the log. This is the output for the last
boot and forward til today? I have compressed it to save space, but once
inflated its is 800 mb.

Title:
Unable to switch from HSP to A2DP on BOSE blutoot headphones

Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have a Bose NC 700 pair of headphones. The device works correctly
with Android and Windows (al be it more cumbersome and confusing in
  Windows).

  Device:
  Firmware 1.5.1-9303+d287f23
  GUID: 5c097385-cd87-d8dd-bab9-4c726a0ac560

  I am available to test.

Problem 1: I am required to click on the "connect" toggle button for
the Bluetooth audio device about 20 - 30 times to make it connect.
This is also true for other speakers as for example JBL Bluetooth
  speakers.

Problem 2: BOSE Headset/Gnome BT Audio configuration. I am unable to
switch between HSP/DSP mode to A2DP Sink. The device remains connected
as a communication device and not as an audio device. I remain stuck
with mono sound. Though the gnome control panel indicates that I have
indeed switched to A2DP Sink. However, when I click "test" I only get
the mono test and the sound is absolutely unusable. Because there is
a microphone on the headphones, Gnome control panel and the underlying
Bluetooth service refuse to change from HSP/DSP. Clearly this is not
  by design.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1725865] Re: Network shows Cable Unplugged

2018-10-09 Thread Vonschutter
To re enable the network after suspended mode I found that this works:

22:07:23-root@Seth:~$ rmmod r8169
22:11:22-root@Seth:~$ modprobe r8169

Unloading the driver and then reloading it brings the interface back up.
unplugging the cable did not, nor did any network manager commands that
I tried.

My take on this is that the driver is not properly loaded back up after
the PC has suspended. This problem must be in the kernel somehow since
pulling the driver and re-inserting it worked.

This was working perfectly on 17.04, but after installing 17.10 from

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1773634] [NEW] Nutilus can't delete folders on samba share

2018-05-27 Thread Vonschutter
Public bug reported:

When deleting folders (only) on a samba share, the folders re appear
after view/refresh. They were never deleted even though initially the
folders seemed to be. Same share, same credentials, are able to delete
the folders successfully from windows and older versions of Ubuntu.

Bug is resolved upstream it seems:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=792147

Please implement.
