[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1843588] Re: Nautilus doesn't copy filenames for paste to other programs anymore

Title:
Nautilus doesn't copy filenames for paste to other programs anymore

Status in Nautilus:
  New
Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in nautilus source package in Focal:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * One of the upstream changes changed behavior of clipboard copying
files/directories from nautilus to applications accepting text only (e.g.
gnome-terminal). In such case the pasted input is prefixed with:
  x-special/nautilus-clipboard
  copy file://

This was not the case in earlier releases and this change has been
  reverted in later upstream releases.

Reverting the problematic commit will fix the usecase reported in this
bug (and all applications where copying from Nautilus and pasting the
data into a text-based input makes sense), but will break copying
  to/from Desktop Icons extension.

I recommend reporting the Desktop Icons extension issue (present
already in every later Ubuntu release) in a separate bug and track the
  fix there.

  [Test Plan]

   1. Open nautilus.
   2. Right-click on any file or directory and select 'Copy' from the context
menu.
   3. Open gnome-terminal and right-click paste the contents of the clipboard.

Expected result: path of the file/directory is pasted in the terminal.
Actual result: pasted input is prefixed with "x-special/nautilus-clipboard
  copy file://"

  [Where problems could occur]

   * There are some workarounds listed in the upstream bug so fixing the root
cause may break environments with those workarounds in place.
   * Reverting this change also limits functionality of the desktop icons
extension shipped with Ubuntu. Namely: before the new clipboard API is used in
desktop-icons (merge requests [1] and [2]) copying and pasting to/from the
desktop extension to a nautilus will not be possible via keyboard shortcuts or
context menu (dragging and dropping will remain to work).

  [Other Info]

  Original bug description:

Until Ubuntu 18.10 Nautilus does copy all selected filenames in simple
Text format and this way you cold paste the selected files as a list
to other programs: for example into the texteditor gedit. This was a
very useful function if you have, for example, to upload a file to
webmail or other web-service. You cold copy the file within nautilus
and paste it directliy to the selection dialog or webfield to upload
  the file.

Or if you wanted a simple List of all your files in a folder you where
able to select all files with nautilus, copy and paste into gedit.
This is not possible anymore. The output of natilus looks now like
  this:

  x-special/nautilus-clipboard
  copy
  file:///home//Schreibtisch/new%20document.txt

Until Ubuntu 18.10 this looks like this:

  /home//Schreibtisch/new document.txt

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Select files with nautilus
  2. Press Ctrl+C
  3. open gedit
  4. press Ctrl+V

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1928393] Re: linux-firmware 1.197 causes kernel to report error "amdgpu: [gfxhub0] retry page fault"

2021-08-29 Thread I-Cat
It is the Blue-Tooth Driver.
I Got This Too on my
Acer Aspire F5-573 series "Laptop"
There is a sticker that says "Intel i-5 core" Know amd is a possablity ?
I Do not think My Processor Is an amd?
Also It set my Screen Res to like 1377x768 (Its a 6k screen) 17" screen
When I was On Windows "Yes I had to switch off Windows Because my Windows 11 os
failed"
It was installed When I installed viurtalbox or kodi.
It is like a nightmare.
I lost function of my usb 1.0 driver.
It installs a pnp driver that do not exsist.
The pnp Driver is a printer driver that is pointing to your desktop.

I Think This Is a Virus That is effecting other systems like My Self.

I'll attach a couple of full dmesgs that I collected.

Many of the times when this happens, the screen and keyboard freeze
irreversibly (I tried waiting for more than 30 minutes, but it doesn't
help). I can still log in via ssh though. When there's no freeze, I
can continue using the computer normally, but the laptop fans keep
running are always running and the battery depletes fast. There's
probably something on a permanent loop either in the kernel or in the
  GPU.

This bug happens several times a day, rendering the machine so
unstable as to be almost unusable. It is a severe regression and I'm
aghast that it passed AMD's Quality Assurance.

After downgrading back to linux-firmware 1.190.5, the machine is back
to the previous, mostly-reliable state. Which is to say, this bug is
gone, I'm just left with the other amdgpu suspend bug I've learned to
live with since I bought this computer.

Please revert the amdgpu firmware in this package as soon as possible.
  This is unbearable.

  Story:
A user plugs in a flash drive and starts working. He gets on the plane, so he
shuts down the system. Once the plane lands, the user boots up the system - the
drive is no longer mounted. This violates the principle of least surprise. The
user is forced to re-mount the drive through the disk utility or unplug and
replug it (which can be a challenge depending on where the device is plugged
in).

It randomly doesn't display e.g. rename, cut and paste.

The confusion came from a bug fix yesterday, please note Comment #2.
Due to usability issues changed the description to request an independent
context menu.
If a file name is very short, for example 'fo' or '1' a user needs to have
sufficient target skills in order to access the appropriate context menu via
right click.

  Expected:
Allow independent context menu otherwise it may be randomly lost.
Leave it up to user which action to select.
It's more confusing to miss context than to right click and have a
comprehensive selection offered.

Bug description:
Gwibber does NOT work with twitter anymore as Twitter abandoned their
  v1 api.

On Ubuntu 12.04 gwibber (3.4.2) still uses twitter api v1. This can be
  confirmed by running following commands:

  cat /usr/share/gwibber/plugins/twitter/__init__.py | grep 'API_PREFIX ='
  API_PREFIX = https://api.twitter.com/1;

On twitter developer page it says:
Authenticated unauthenticated requests to api.twitter.com/1/* will receive
HTTP 410 Gone. Use API v1.1 instead.

Hence it is unable to receive any tweets.
