[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1378982] [NEW] A strange screeching sound is heard randomly

2014-10-08 Thread ciryon
Public bug reported:

Hello

I use Ubuntu 14.04 64 bits and Rhythmbox 3.0.2.

When I listen to music file whether they are mp3, ogg or any other
format, the application make a strange noise during playback, it's a
noise which looks like reading a music CD with computer data track. It
happens randomly on several tracks, it can happen on one track and if
read again not and vice-versa. I have tested the same music files on VLC
and SMPLAYER and did not get the same issues.

** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1363661] Re: 10de:0fc8 No nvidia proprietary drivers offered in x64

2014-10-07 Thread ciryon
Someone on the Ubuntu forum :
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2247205page=2p=13137953#post13137953
Told me that Looks like the GT740 wasn't supported until nvidia-337, and
Ubuntu 14.04 only has nvidia-331. Perhaps this is why it didn't offer any
additional driver.'
Checking nvidia site :
http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/76278/en-us
I found this for the 337.25 version :

Added support for the following GPUs:

GeForce GTX TITAN Z
GeForce GT 740
GeForce 830M
GeForce 840M
GeForce 845M
GeForce GTX 850M

When I try to add a search engine from

me I must use a Mozilla based web browser despite I'm using Firefox

The add-on responsible seems to be : Unity Desktop Integration 3.0.2,
desactivating it for me resolves the issue but tis is a workaround.

Since I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 32 bits, I wonder what the desactivation of this
plugin will cause however.
