[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1641380] Re: chromium-browser: ERR_CERTIFICATE_TRANSPARENCY_REQUIRED for Symantec certs

2016-12-15 Thread dimovnike
This is madness. A lot of sites are cut, like amazon, and others. I
tried the version 55 from staging but it doesn't work properly yet
(sites like amazon and youtube and up in "aw snap!"). Anyone knows when
to expect a fix?

Title:
Backlight controls of laptops with NVIDIA NVS and Quadro FX 880M GPUs
no longer function while using proprietary drivers

Status in Ubuntu Certification Programme:
  Invalid
Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
The brightness controls of laptops with NVIDIA NVS 3100M or Quadro FX
880M GPUs work while running Nouveau or when using a text mode VT,
but not while running X and using proprietary NVIDIA drivers. It is
possible to force the NVIDIA driver to control the backlight by adding
[Option RegistryDwords EnableBrightnessControl=1] to the Devices
section of xorg.conf . While this allows the backlight to be
controlled, the increments are inconsistent and often result in a
buzzing noise from the LED backlight on Lenovo ThinkPad T510s and
W510s. Since this did not occur while running nouveau or when
switching in text VT, something is wrong.

This bad backlight behaviour has been confirmed on ThinkPad models T510 and
W510 with NVIDIA NVS 3100m and Quadro FX 880M chipsets, respectively, via
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T510
Because this issue is related to NVIDIA's proprietary video driver, this
issue can only be solved by them. An NVIDIA developer has said he will
investigate the issues, which are discussed on the nvnews.net forums at
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=145105 and
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=150069 . For future reference,
the latest NVIDIA drivers can be found in the Ubuntu X-Swat X updates PPA:

I confirm that the downgrade to 41.0.2272.76-0ubuntu1.1134 solves this

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1231947] Re: gnome-settings-daemon input hotplug-command not working in 13.10

any idea of a workaround?

Title:
  gnome-settings-daemon input hotplug-command not working in 13.10

Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have always used this method in ubuntu to enable 3-finger tap on my
synaptics touchpad (and by the way, 3-finger tap works out of the box
  in every non-ubuntu distro /rant):

  create a file called touchpad_settings.sh.
  chmod +x touchpad_settings.sh
  gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.input-devices
hotplug-command /home/brandon/touchpad_settings.sh

This way 3 finger tap is working and gnome always respects the setting
and doesn't reset it on suspend/resume. This worked perfectly in
12.04, 12.10, and 13.04. In 13.10 it just does not work. I double
checked, made sure I had the right path to the file, and that the file
was executable. If I manually execute touchpad_settings.sh it works,
but when I boot my computer it just does not seem to run the hotplug
command, and if I manually run the script and then suspend/resume,
gnome disables the 3 finger tap upon resume, again not respecting the
  hotplug-command.

This is a big issue, this is the only way to get 3 finger tap working
  on a touchpad in ubuntu.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 803348] Re: In Firefox, scrolling and then pressing Ctrl causes zoom

Title:
In Firefox, scrolling and then pressing Ctrl causes zoom

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When scrolling a heavy webpage in Firefox tend to lag on my computer
so that the motion of the page continues after I have stopped giving
scrolling commands. If I then, before the page has stopped, press Ctrl
(to Ctrl-Tab switch between tabs, for example) Firefox starts to zoom
the page (as when you scroll while holding Ctrl). This is unwanted
behaviour every time for me. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 with Firefox 5
  (5.0+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.2). In Ubuntu 10.10, the
behaviour was the expected, i.e., zooming or scrolling was determined
based on if you held Ctrl pressed while rolled your scroll wheel, not
whether Ctrl was pressed during the motion of the page.

  To reproduce:
  1. Open a webpage in Firefox, preferably a large and heavy one.
  2. Make sure your computer is slow enough that the scrolling motion of the
page lags appreciably behind the scrolling commands of your mouse wheel.
  3. Stop rolling the wheel and while the page is still scrolling, press Ctrl.
This causes Firefox to zoom the page.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 803348] Re: In Firefox, scrolling and then pressing Ctrl causes zoom

2013-07-09 Thread dimovnike
it doesnt matter how slow is computer as mentioned in the bug
description. Its happening on simple pages (e.g. on this one) on i7
with 8gb ram and SSD so the PC slowness is not an issue. It looks like
the touchpad is sending scroll events even after you lift the fingers up
from touchpad.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 273742] Re: Pulseaudio over wifi stutters horribly

2013-06-15 Thread dimovnike
i have raring on both machines, the desktop has a wired connection and a
laptop has wifi-n the audio i still bad, every 3-10 seconds i hear
pauses. WHen using wired connection on a laptop - works perfectly. My
wifi pulls 80mbit/s according to iperf, while pulseaudio uses 3093.7
kbits, according to iptraf. Is there a way to increase the pulseaudi
default buffering? May be there is a way to setup default lafency
required from such connections?

  Pulseaudio over wifi stutters horribly

Status in PulseAudio sound server:
  New
Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When streaming audio data via the local pulseaudio sound server of my
laptop over wifi to my server, the sound lags a lot and mainly
consists of skippings. Starting an application, e.g. totem, via
PULSE_SERVER=my_server totem from the shell, everything works
perfectly. So it doesn't seem to be a problem with my wifi, but
probably with the audio buffers of the local pulseaudio server (i.e.
when tunneling streams via the local sound server).

Happened on Hardy and still happens on Intrepid, and now on Jaunty.

Title:
After boot, NetworkManager indicator menu only shows four entries

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After I boot in to the LiveCD environment for Ubuntu 12.04, I click on
the NetworkManager icon in the top-right of the screen and it's only
  showing four items:

  --
  | ✓ Enable Networking
  | ✓ Enable Wireless
  | -- |
  | Connection Information
  | Edit Connections...
  --

If I then select the Enable Networking or Enable Wireless option
to disable that interface and then re-enable it, then the
NetworkManager populates with all the normal menu items (listing of
all WiFi SSID, VPN connection, etc.).

Bug description:
Dropping a file into a window via the 'drag file to Launcher, then
drag file to Spread' interaction fails to load the file into the
  selected window.

To reproduce: Open two firefox windows. Drag a .html or .png file to
the Firefox icon in the Launcher. As soon as the spread appears
quickly drop the file to one of the firefox windows while still in the
spread view. The file should open into the window it was just dropped
  on but nothing happens.

Does not work, needs to be fixed ;-)

  The fix requires input redirection
