[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1853741] [NEW] system freezes randomly on boot, after loading initial ramdisk

2019-11-24 Thread Giorgos Saridakis
Public bug reported:

adding nomodeset to grub parameter negates the problem, not 100% but
almost sure this has to do with graphics initialization.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1752140] Re: Gedit menu button disappear (17.10)

2018-04-28 Thread Giorgos Kapetanakis
I have tried switching theme/icon theme. Does not work. After some
googling though I came up with a workaround: Open GNOME Tweaks / Top Bar
and switch on/off the "Application Menu". This did the trick for me.

  Gedit menu button disappear (17.10)

Status in gedit package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
The menu button of Gedit somehow disappeared (see attached
screenshot). This happens only to one user (myself) on the system with
Xorg, as it appears normally in my wife's account on the same
computer, as well as on root. On Wayland, the button is there, but
many options are missing (like the Preferences).

I have tried deleting several config files, including ~/.config/gedit,
login/logout and rebooting without success. Also, I found some bug
reports about previous versions that suggested that a similar behavior
might randomly appear, but in my case this is consistent. Also,
although I use Gedit on a daily basis, I do not recall when exactly
  this happened.

  gedit - Version 3.22.1
Ubuntu 17.10 (with all packages up-to-date)

  Any ideas?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 783929] Re: power management does not shut down system when ups is low/critical

You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop

Title:
power management does not shut down system when ups is low/critical

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I have set it to shut down when UPS is low and also to shut down when
UPS is critically low. When on UPS power, the battery discharges.
There is a notification that UPS is critically low, but it does not
attempt to shut down. Then UPS battery dies and the system abruptly
  turns off too.

I suspect that the reason bight be that it monitors time until battery
empties, instead of monitoring percentage of battery charge. It seems
that the time to empty is incorrect, while percentage is correct.

What you expected to happen: When UPS power is low/critically low, the system
should take action based on the power preferences (either hibernate or shut
down)
What actually happened: UPS power gets low/critically low and no action is
taken.
The minimal series of steps necessary to make it happen, where step 1 is
"start the program".
  1. Power Management Preferences|On UPS Power|When Power is low/critically
low|Shut down
  2. Pull the plug so that system runs on UPS power
  3. Wait until UPS power is low

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 783929] Re: power management does not shut down system when ups is low/critical

2011-10-31 Thread Giorgos Akrivas
Dear Pedro,

yes the issue is reproducible in oneiric. Like before, I set it to
shutdown when battery is critically low, then unplugged the UPS and
waited for it to drain. Oneiric did not shut down when the UPS went low,
however just one second before the UPS ran out of power oneiric
displayed a message; I did not have time to read it, but I managed to
see the words "critically low". So it seems that the problem persists.

Title:
power management does not shut down system when ups is low/critical

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I have set it to shut down when UPS is low and also to shut down when
UPS is critically low. When on UPS power, the battery discharges.
There is a notification that UPS is critically low, but it does not
attempt to shut down. Then UPS battery dies and the system abruptly
  turns off too.

I suspect that the reason bight be that it monitors time until battery
empties, instead of monitoring percentage of battery charge. It seems
that the time to empty is incorrect, while percentage is correct.
