2016-01-15 Thread goutam kodu
Hi wolf,

Thank you for confirming that hplip-3.15.11.run is working fine.
We will surely take a look at fixing this issue when Hplip package
installed from standard repo

Thank you,

Did you try install hplip-3.15.11 through 'hplip-3.15.11.run' auto installer
package ?
If yes, and if it is not working can you tell us what is the error you are
getting.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1530656] Re: printing will fail with python3.5 set as default

2016-01-13 Thread goutam
hplip is written to suite version py2.6 and py3.X.
While building the code certain binaries are linked with the default python
library. When default python version is changed to higher version, the code
needs to be recompiled to link to the python library which is defaulted now.

My first experience of Ubuntu was Utopic Unicorn, about 2 months ago. I
installed HPLIP, so as to use my HP Laserjet 1018 printer, and it all worked
fine. On upgrading to Ubuntu 15.04, my printer stopped working. I have tried
everything I can think of: upgrading HPLIP, removing HPLIP and installing an
alternative driver (foomatic), deleting and adding the printer, nothing works.
I have also downloaded and installed all updates to Ubuntu. I have noticed,
checking through previous bug reports, that this appears to be a recurring
problem: people's HP printers work OK until, on upgrading Ubuntu, they suddenly
stopped working. Can it be that beta versions are not being properly tested?
Having spent most of yesterday on this problem, and having being seriously
ticked off by my boss, about it, I am unwilling to spend further time on it. I
was going to include some screens shots to support my case, but I can't see how
to do this. Here are some more details:
  As of now:
listed printers are: Canon ip1900 series
 HP Laserjet 1018 (default) / Enabled --
OK / Shared -- OK

Description: Hewlett-Packard HP LaserJet 1018

Location: tristram-Aspire-5570Z
 Device
URI: usb://HP/LaserJet%201018?serial=LF04EKT
 Make
and Model: HP LaserJet 1018 Foomatic/foo2zjs-z1 (recommended)

Printer state: Idle - Sending data to printer.

Trying to print a test page produces a little box that says: Submitted -
Test page submitted as job (whatever)
Noticing that, above, the driver appears to be set to Foomatic, I tried
changing it. Now it reads:
 Make
and Model: HP LaserJet 1018, hpcups 3.15.4, requires proprietary plugin

I pressed the Print Test Page button, and got: Submitted - Test page
submitted as job 64. As usual, nothing happens.
All this time, the printer is turned on, and connected to my laptop via USB
cable, needless to say. On viewing Document print status I have: Job: 64 /User:
tristram /Document: Test Page / Printer: Hewlett-Packard-HP-LaserJet-1018 /
Size: 1k /Time submitted: 11 minutes ago / Status (printer appears with a red
sign) : Stopped - Printer error
On viewing job attributes, I have (for instance, a screen shot would be
really useful here):
  job-more-info: http://localhost:631/jobs/64 (...)
  job-printer-state-message: Filter failed
  job-printer-state-reasons: ['hplip.plugin-error'] (...)
  job-state-reasons: job-completed-with-errors (...)

There's more info in this report, but I don't know what you need...

I hope this is enough for you people to work on. Meanwhile, I'm
seriously thinking of downgrading my Ubuntu version to what it was
before, and HPLIP also, except that I don't know for sure what the
  working version was

  Thank you very much,

  Tristram

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1476011] Re: hp-setup plugin file does not match its checksum

2015-07-20 Thread goutam
Sourceforge site is down
(http://sourceforge.net/blog/sourceforge-infrastructure-and-service-restoration/)
and unfortunately hp-plugin utility is not able to fetch the plugin.conf from
sorceforge site.
Can you directly download the plugin files from here:
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run
https://www.openprinting.org/download/printdriver/auxfiles/HP/plugins/hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run.asc

To install the plugin file you can run command 'sudo sh
hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run' in terminal or you can run command 'sudo hp-
plugin' in terminal and choose the second option to manually select the
hplip-3.15.2-plugin.run file and install.

Run command 'hp-setup' to configure the print queue.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1323040] Re: 14.04 not supported

2015-06-18 Thread goutam
Hi Christopher,

Can you please try installing the latest HPLIP 3.15.6 ?
You can download the auto-installer package hplip-3.15.6.run file from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html and install it by running
command 'sh hplip-3.15.6.run'.

After the install, run command 'hp-setup' in terminal to configure the
fax and print queue for the printer and run command 'hp-sendfax' to
send the fax job.

If you are still facing the issue, provide us 'hp-sendfax -ldebug'
command output here.

Thanks,
Goutam

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1455938] Re: [HP OfficeJet 5610v] HPLIP notes print job completed but Job Queue notes On Hold

2015-05-19 Thread goutam
Hi Christopher,

Can you try installing the latest hplip-3.15.4 using hplip-3.15.4.run file by
downloading it from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html. Run
command 'sh hplip-3.15.4.run' in terminal to install.
Delete the existing print queue for this printer in Ubuntu 15.04 server and
reconfigure the print queue using command 'hp-setup -i ' and run command
'hp-testpage -i' in terminal at server side and let us know if you are able to
print the testpage from server. Also can you run command 'hp-levels -i -g' and
provide its output here.

Thanks,
Goutam

Title:
[HP OfficeJet 5610v] HPLIP notes print job completed but Job Queue
  notes On Hold

Status in HP Linux Imaging and Printing:
  Confirmed
Status in hplip package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
What is expected to happen is when one USB connects an HP OfficeJet 5610v to
Ubuntu 15.04 server, adds the printer to the server via the hplip-gui package,
modifies just the lines below:
  sudo nano /etc/samba/smb.conf
  [printers]
 comment = All Printers
 browseable = no
 path = /var/spool/samba
 printable = yes
 guest ok = yes
 read only = yes
 create mask = 0700

Goes to with a web browser:
  http://localhost:631/admin/
Check checkbox Share printers connected to this system, and one may print
from another Ubuntu 15.04 client via ipp.

What happens instead is that the hplip-gui notes the print job
completed, but the job queue notes a job held. The program doing the
printing printing was both LibreOffice Writer and Evince. Hence, the
software initiating the print job seems not at fault here.

The printer prints fine if one connects the client directly via USB.

Also this would be a regression as this all used to work with Trusty
  server and Trusty/Utopic clients.

Hi Natalia,

Can you please download the ' hplip-3.15.2.run ' auto installer file from
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/gethplip.html.
Run command 'sh hplip-3.15.2.run' in terminal. This will warn that auto
installation is not supported for ubuntu 15.04 . But you can still proceed to
install.

Let us know if the installation went smooth.

After installation, try configuring the printer using command 'hp-setup'
.

Let us know if you are facing the same as above.

After installing libtool manually.. can you retry 'sh hplip-3.15.2.run'
and let us know if the installation proceeds without any issue.

After install, run command ' hp-setup' to configure the device .

But the package is available and installed:

2015-03-11 Thread goutam kodu
There seem to be an issue with the auto installer script . While we take
a look at it can you try manually installing the hplip.

Here are the steps.
1 . Go inside the folder hplip-3.15.2. It should be created at the same
location where auto installer was run.

change directory  to  hplip-3.15.2

cd   hplip-3.15.2

2.  Run command ./configure --prefix=/usr
3. Run 'make' command.
4. Run 'sudo make install'

This should install hplip in your system
Configure the device and let us know if everything is working.

2014-10-09 Thread goutam
Hi Gannet,
Sorry for the late response.
Can you try rebooting the printer. Delete the exiting print queues for this
printer in system-config-printer and reconfigure the printer using command
hp-setup and check if you get to see the same error.

Thanks,
goutam

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1333206] Re: Unable to print in photo paper using HP Deskjet 916c

2014-06-24 Thread goutam kodu
Hi Alberto,

Can you try installing latest hplip 3.14.6 ? Please download the file
hplip-3.14.6.run from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-
web/gethplip.html. To install it run command sh hplip-3.14.6.run in
terminal.

Next, run command hp-setup -r in terminal to delete the existing
print queue for HP Deskjet 916c.

After that run command hp-setup to configure the new print queue for
this device and try to print on photo paper.

Let us know if the issue is still reproducible.

Thanks Regards,
Goutam
