kai-hengthanks for the follow-up. The problem still persists. When I close the
lead, the screen remains blanks. However, when I Press "suspend" the display
does show up but the keyboard is disabled
Attached is the latest journal. It is automatically generated and stored on my
desktop.
ThanksLevi

get to the recovery mode to which I also tried to no avail.
thanksLevi

Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1817440] Re: System freeze only with Firefox

2019-02-25 Thread Meir Levi
Daniel
I think I have solved the problem. The issue was. I decided to change my OS
from ubuntu 18.10 to Lubuntu one. Before doing so, I backed up the "Home"
onto USB drive up using Deja dup app.
Then installed Lubuntu - selecting "erase Disk" option, then restored the
Home. After my reply above, I decided to uninstall all the add ons on the
Firefox. Restarted the browser & installed the add on. The freeze seem to
have gone.

Thanks

Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1817440] Re: System freeze only with Firefox

2019-02-25 Thread Meir Levi
The freezing seems to occur mainly with Ghostery & Adblock add ons.
Because when I disable them, freezing subsides. I had the same issue with
ubuntu - until I changed to Lubuntu with the hope a lighter version will
solve the problem.
Other than that I have no clue why since upgrade to ubuntu/lubuntu 18.10

Thanks, Daniel

connector, I get no audio outpout from the dock audio connector.

Looks like the same issue as reported in:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1385680

However the pin quirks appear to be different for the T*60 series of
  laptops.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1726306] Re: Failure to reactivate display after locking

2017-10-24 Thread Levi Bard
It's definitely not (directly) related to either of those - I can't even
get the display to come back on, let alone enter a password at the lock
screen.

After the screen is locked (either manually or via timeout) and it
blanks/deactivates the screen, the display remains deactivated and my session
is unrecoverable.
(I can still ssh into the machine, but have so far been unable to get the
display back without rebooting, even via restarting gdm.)

  It seems somewhat similar to
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1715811 , but it's
only after the display is deactivated, and not at boot.

The scope of the problem seems to be compounded by the fact that
there's no straightforward way to prevent gnome-shell from blanking
  the screen when it locks.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1713513] Re: notification for extensions keep reapearing

2017-08-31 Thread Levi Gomes
I've also had the same problem. I tested it with a few extensions and
the error happened with all of them, so it seems to be an issue with the
start of a gnome session. It happens mostly with guest sessions, but
I've also seen it happen in normal sessions occasionally.

I'm also using Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 and lightdm.

than turning off the notifications of those extensions, I tested and
even the standard extensions that come with Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 show
  the same issue

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1387711] [NEW] Unity doesn't respect NET_WM_ALLOWED_ACTIONS

2014-10-30 Thread Levi Bard
Public bug reported:

According to http://standards.freedesktop.org/wm-spec/latest/ar01s05.html :
Atoms present in the list indicate allowed actions, atoms not present in the
list indicate actions that are not supported for this window. The Window
Manager MUST keep this property updated to reflect the actions which are
currently "active" or "sensitive" for a window.

However, if I set NET_WM_ALLOWED_ACTIONS to a list not containing
NET_WM_ACTION_RESIZE (along with the MAXIMIZE atoms), I can still
resize/maximize the window using the mouse. Only by forcing min and max
size in the WM normal hints can I achieve the desired behavior.

Bug description:
When I switch between windows, or switch between tabs in the same
window, or switch desktops, part or all of the affected windows often
fail to repaint (or repaint and then revert to "stale" content).
Unfocusing/refocusing the affected window usually forces it to repaint
again (but may then leave another window "stale").

It doesn't seem toolkit-specific (happens with xchat, firefox, chrome,
  skype, gnome-terminal, ...).

Attached is a screenshot showing an example of corruption after
switching between two tabs in xchat.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1251054] Re: networking didn't return from suspend

This is the syslog for suspend and wakeup. The networkmanager didn't
wake up.

Title:
  networking didn't return from suspend

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Wireless networking did not work when I resumed from suspend.

Using the indicator/applet to "Enable Networking" didn't associate my
wireless with the AP. Plugging in an Ethernet cable did not bring back
networking. The hardware rfkill switch did not bring back networking.

A reboot allowed me to associate as I expected.

  Thanks

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1088146] Re: Asus n56vz battery state is wrong or battery not charging at all.

2013-09-26 Thread levi
I have the same problems on my N550JV.

FN only works with sound keys
Battery does not charge, keeps blinking in orange
Also there is no /sys/devices/platform/asus-nb-wmi/leds/asus\:\:kbd_backlight/

Battery Update:
I solved the battery problem , first I updated the kernel to 3.11. This didn't
do anything. Then I updated the BIOS to 206.

Everything else continues to fail:
No Backlight on the keyboard, no screen dimming etc

Status in “upower” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I have an ASUS N56VZ notebook. There are some bugs I have mentioned and they
are known on ubuntu forums.
Sometimes I am getting strange results in battery power state, that are not
even close to be accurate.
  So bugs are:
  1) Then I am turning on the notebok with not enough power (3% for example)
the fan is going to it`s full speed (no CPU loading at all) and the power
indicator shows that power is insufficient. Plugging the power adapter didn`t
solved the problem - it was not charging and notebook soon turns off.
  2) As I described above, I can`t feed the notebook sometimes (especially on
low battery level).
  3) I am getting the strange battery state result: sometimes it looks, that
it`s charging very slow. Am am working about a hour and my power level just
rised from 30 minutes to 40 minutes.
  4) I am not sure about this bug, may be it`s a hardware one, but then I
turned notebook off with plugged in power adapter, it was not charged at all
for the whole night!
