[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1711382] Re: Slow Firefox performance and high CPU load when tlp is installed
@Wolf: you do not even *try* to prove your claim of a bug in TLP. Your descriptions jump aimlessly from topic to topic (including redundancy with #1710978). Before you open a bug report you should have a thorough look into the TLP FAQ http://linrunner.de/en/tlp/docs/tlp-faq.html where you'll find plenty of workarounds for common problems with kernel power saving and into TLP Troubleshooting http://linrunner.de/en/tlp/docs/tlp- troubleshooting.html . For remaining questions I suggest you seek advice in a Linux and/or Thinkpad oriented forum. The bug tracker is not a support forum! ** Changed in: tlp (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1711382 Title: Slow Firefox performance and high CPU load when tlp is installed Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: New Status in tlp package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: After installing Firefox 55 the browser generates huge cpu load, startup is extremely slow (it takes > 10s for the taskbar to accept entries after launch (this is new to 55) Due to high cpu load the computer tends to overheat, ventilation jumps in making the machine extremely loud. I don't think the problem is in xserver-xorg-input-synaptics. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 841315] Re: on thinkpad-acpi devices, brightness setting ommits most steps
I'm affected too: ThinkPad X200 and X220 w/ Ubuntu 12.04. In fact this is a kernel bug and there already is a patch in mainline: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=ff413195e830541afeae469fc866ecd0319abd7e I can confirm that the patch works for me an some more Thinkpad users when applied to the current Precise kernel 3.2.0-27.43 and I *strongly* suggest to integrate this patch in the Precise kernel. Kernel packages including this patch can be found in my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~linrunner/+archive/thinkpad-extras -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/841315 Title: on thinkpad-acpi devices, brightness setting ommits most steps Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Brightness changes in very rough steps on some Machines, but only when there is the gpm-OSD appearing showing the brightness setting. So the bug appears not when the session showed is locked, but in an active session or on the login screen the bug appears. On my machine (thinkpad X60) brightness changes with two steps between min and max - these steps are different depending on wether you go up or down hough. So you can hit 6 settings. I think the firmware is capable I think 8, surely indepent on wether set higher or lower. This is found on an X60 Tablet, an Lenovo Netbook (sorry, not sure which device exactly) and an X201 Tablet. This leads me to believe this is an issue with the thinkpad-acpi kernel module, which has an proprietary interface for the screen brightness.
