[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1220826] Re: PDFs of scanned documents are incompatible with Adobe Reader
Is there a specific reason for creating the pdf by hand and not using cairo directly to create the pdf ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to simple-scan in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1220826 Title: PDFs of scanned documents are incompatible with Adobe Reader Status in Simple Scan: Triaged Status in “simple-scan” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The problem occurs on both Raring and Saucy if I scan a document of several pages with simple-scan and save it as PDF file, the PDF file can be read by all PDF readers (evince, gs, MuPDF, ...) except Adobe Reader. This makes simple-scan unusable, as you as Ubuntu user think that you have working PDFs (evince reads them) but the person receiving your file, Windows user, cannot read it (with Adobe Reader). simple-scan is 3.9.90-0ubuntu1, Adobe Reader are the most recent versions from the AppStores on iOS and Android (I have no Windows box). --- ApportVersion: 2.12.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 DriverPackageVersions: libsane 1.0.23-0ubuntu3 libsane-extras N/A hplip 3.13.8-0ubuntu1 hpoj N/A InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-06-05 (91 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander - Alpha amd64 (20130605) MachineType: LENOVO 334729G MarkForUpload: True Package: simple-scan 3.9.90-0ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-4-generic root=UUID=80d8eb01-b0c3-47cc-8dba-1ed122b2be4f ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-4.9-generic 3.11.0-rc7 Tags: saucy Uname: Linux 3.11.0-4-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip libvirtd lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo dmi.bios.date: 02/05/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: GDET92WW (1.52 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 334729G dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Win8 Pro DPK TPG dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrGDET92WW(1.52):bd02/05/2013:svnLENOVO:pn334729G:pvrThinkPadTwist:rvnLENOVO:rn334729G:rvrWin8ProDPKTPG:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 334729G dmi.product.version: ThinkPad Twist dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/simple-scan/+bug/1220826/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
