[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-20 Thread nachokb
I suffer the same symptoms. Used it in 14.04 (Ubuntu GNOME over here)
and stopped working (though I did change lots of PPAs). Device is
detected, paired correctly but it won't show up in Preferences > Sound.

Running 'paclt list cards short' (per #14) does not list this (only the
built-in card), while in Preferences > Bluetooth device shows up as
paired (and device responds accordingly). Weirdly, sometimes the toggle
"Bluetooth" in Preferences > Bluetooth shows up as disabled, while the
device acts like it is indeed paired (so it is enabled actually).

I've also found this on /var/log/syslog:

> Jun 20 20:10:51 valinor bluetoothd[20013]: Adapter /org/bluez/20013/hci0 has
> been enabled

These last two lines look suspect, perhaps they're useful somehow.

Bug description:
  Hi,

  I found a bug in Ubuntu 14.04 !

I tried to pair a bluetooth stereo headset (A2DP compatible). The
pairing process goes well, but after that I can't select it on the
  audio preferences.

When I select it, it only shows the last selected item options and don't do
anything. (he should switch to the headset output).
I must mention that it worked very well on Ubuntu 12.04.

This bug can be in the bluetooth stack or in unity-control-center or
maybe pulseaudio. I actually have no idea.

  Original message:
  -

I don't know how to reproduce this bug, but after varying amounts of
normal usage of my laptop, I notice gnome-settings-daemon is consuming
  100% (approx) CPU.

I am not sure how to restart gnome-settings-daemon, I tried opening a
terminal and running gnome-settings-daemon again but this crashes my
system - my external monitor switches off and my laptop locks up. I am
  able to reboot with SysRq+REISUB.

Sorry I cannot provide more information - it happens twice now, maybe
someone can tell me how to get more information for the next time this
  happens.

Status in “rhythmbox” source package in Raring:

Bug description:
  [IMPACT]

   * Rhythmbox freezes when using a large collection.

  [TESTCASE]

   * It happens with a large collection.
   * It's due to a deadlock between db load and rhythmdb_add_uri_with_types and
it's possible that it's not easy to reproduce this bug. Maybe it can be
interesting to slow down the hard disk (e.g. by copying a large file when
opening Rhythmbox with a lot of files in its collection)
   * After a few seconds, Rhythmbox will freeze.
   * (this fix has been confirmed by a few people here above.)

  [Regression Potential]

  * According to RB devs: None =>
http://git.gnome.org/browse/rhythmbox/commit/?id=a2ead52faa45a37f28dff1e94cad5f0dadd28129
  * This deadlock has been fixed by RB devs and now it seems they understand
why there was a deadlock

  [ Other Info ]

  * Raring: A new version (2.98-0ubuntu2) has been uploaded to Raring repos
  * Quantal: This BZR branch contains a fix for this bug:
lp:~matttbe/ubuntu/quantal/rhythmbox/1010619_795765 (it also contains the
latest version of '11_fix_cd_pausing.patch' (patch from upstream and also
available in Raring) linked to the bug: #795765)

  [ Original Bug Report ]

  Hello,

With the latest version of RB 2.97-0ubuntu2, the interface freezes at launch.
I didn't have this bug with the previous version 2.97-0ubuntu1 but it's a bit
strange because it seems the change between the two versions only concerns
'audiocd' plugin (and I have this bug with or without this plugin)

If I launch it with this command, I don't have any problem:
    $ rhythmbox --rhythmdb-file=test.db

Maybe my (huge) database is corrupted but if I launch RB with the
debug mode (-d), I don't have this bug (but it takes a few time before
  being ready to use).

  Rhythmbox freezes at startup

Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I upgrade from ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 and along came a new version of
Rhythmbox. All seemed to work well until today when Rhythmbox suddenly
gave life. I kept clicking the icon but nothing happened (I saw no
screen popping up like it normally would). Then I opened a terminal
and typed "killall rhythmbox" and that killed the runaway process.
Then I restarted by the Icon again now the screen popped up but froze
after 1-2 seconds, not to wake up from. This behaviour is repeatable
and the debug output (with -d) shows it stops at some query but each
  time a different file, E.g.:

  (23:20:44) [0xa0b6da0] [rhythmdb_add_uri_with_types] rhythmdb.c:2996:
  queueing stat for

"file:///media/HI400/mp3/%23%20Collection%20Albums/Billboard%20Top%20100%20@%201950%20-%202005/1957/50%20-%20Billboard%20Top%20100%20-%201957%20-%20Fats%20Domino%20-%20Blue%20Monday.mp3"

Perhaps it will be solved when I reboot but I wanted to file the bug
anyway. At the moment the "freeze" is repeatable.

I have about 290Gb of mp3 files in my library.

I will attach the full debug log.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1010619] Re: [2.97-0ubuntu2] Rhythmbox freezes

2012-10-25 Thread nachokb
it also happens with these two versions on Ubuntu Quantal (dist upgraded
from Precise):

* 2.98-0.1~webupd8~quantal2 from ppa:webupd8team/rhythmbox
* Precise's 2.96-0ubuntu4.1 installed manually (gotten these debs from
packages.ubuntu.com: rhythmbox_2.96-0ubuntu4.1_amd64
librhythmbox-core5_2.96-0ubuntu4.1_amd64 rhythmbox-data_2.96-0ubuntu4.1_all
gir1.2-rb-3.0_2.96-0ubuntu4.1_amd64)

2.96 worked wonderfully on Precise before upgrading... perhaps the XML
got corrupted somehow during the upgrade? (though it doesn't look like
it was modified)

I've got a ~100gb collection.

Also, if I start it with

  rhythmbox --rhythmdb-file=~/test.db

it works, until it scanned enough of my ~/Music to start hanging
again...

My conclusion:

* it's definitely related to having a large collection
* it didn't happen on Precise
* it happens on Quantal with Precise's Rhythmbox

so I guess the problem lies in some other dependency (say, libxml or
something)...

any ideas?
