I'm using 13.04, but had same problems with 12.10. I think 12.04 worked well. If I restart the laptop the same error appears until I disconnect the Mini DisplayPort cable and reconnecting again at the login screen, this happens virtually every time with the cable connected. Have the same problem with Lenovo Thinkpad T430s with Intel HD4000.
