This driver (along with necessary alsa ucm files) as now included with 5.3.x is working on my system (vanilla 5.3.4). In case anyone is searching the web to seek solutions, I'll put on the record that 4.20.4, with the patch as generated above, along with the UCM files that have been posted on git at https://github.com/heikomat/linux/tree/cx2072x/cx2072x_fixes_and_manual/chtcx2072x - sound is now functioning on my Asus Transformer Mini T103HA. Shouldn't really matter as I am using an updated but otherwise vanilla kernel from ftp.kernel.org, but again, for the record, this is under Slackware Current (live ISO from alienBob 1.3.0.2, 20190117). Thanks all. While I agree this may not be an XFPM bug /per se/, it is an XFCE compilation bug in my view since XFPM and xfce4-session both place .desktop files in /etc/xdg/autostart for xfpm and xscreensaver respectively, and both of those apps compete against each other to set dpms settings. I think there needs to be better autodetection in xfpm to see if xscreensaver exists, and disable certain features if xscreensaver provides them. My machine is a desktop and does not require ACPI-related power management facilities provided by XFPM and so on my machine I simply disable XFPM by removing the .desktop file from /etc/xdg/autostart as I am happy with the screenblanking and DPMS settings offered by xscreensaver alone. If I set up xscreensaver, it prevents xfce4-power-manager from shutting off my monitor. It seems that I am forced to use one or the other. This is unfortunate, because xscreensaver has some features I like (like fading to black and locking the screen after a certain period), but xfce4-power-manager has other features I like, such as different behavior on battery vs. AC.
