I mentioned to Robert last week that I keep getting the spinner and no
results returned when searching in g-s on 16.04. He suggested I update
to the version in the PPA and enable logging to capture what's
  happening. Log attached.

Title:
[Feature request] add an empty text file template by default

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Currently the file manager does not provide a way to create new files
out of the box. The user has to manually touch a file to ~/Templates
  using a terminal emulator.

This default behaviour can be frustrating especially to new users who
might not know about the touch command at all. Creating new text files
is a common operation and it should "just work" ootb without the user
having to do research on the whole GNOME template system.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1861743] [NEW] updates/app search does not load, only spins constantly

2020-02-03 Thread programmerplays
Public bug reported:

When I open GNOME Software, it won't show me any suggested packages. I
can't search for packages, it just constantly shows the buffering
symbol. Adding packages with snap or apt works just fine. This only
occured after I installed gitg after upgrading too 20.04 iirc.

Ubuntu Release:
20.04 Focal Fossa (development branch)

Gnome-software version:
3.35.2-0ubuntu1

I expected: be able to search and install programs.

What happened: It continued to show the buffer symbol.
