I tried it with various pdf files, including a pdf file created in GIMP. Never works. And yes, I am sure, it started a few weeks ago when I was still using Ubuntu 13.10. I only upgraded Ubuntu to 14.04 this weekend and the problem persists. It might be a specific problem on my system, I don't know. But I have not clue how to find out where the problem is. Not only that, when upgrading to Ubuntu 14.04 I had a complete clean install of my Linux (for unrelated reasons). But just to make sure, after that I did purge and install GIMP again to make sure. This problem started in Ubuntu 13.10 (can't remember any specific change or update in other packages other than the regular updates from Ubuntu repositories) and persisted after a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04 and Gimp.
