[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1859325] Re: Column selection in LibreOffice Calc is very slow with GTK3

2020-01-12 Thread suokunlong
By the way, the slowness is much worse in LibreOffice version 6.2 and
above. In the ubuntu build version (which is version 6.0.7), the
slowness is not too bad, but still significant as compared to non-gtk3
mode.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1258368] Re: libreoffice: long time delay for properties window when set UI language to zh_CN

Title:
libreoffice: long time delay for properties window when set UI
  language to zh_CN

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
When zh_CN (Simplified Chinese) language is enabled for LibreOffice
UI, the property windows will freeze and take much long time (more
than 10 seconds) to show up.

This happens in my two home laptops and one office computer, all of
which have Ubuntu 13.10 installed. It was the same when I was using
  Ubuntu 13.04.

This issue has been tested by someone else in an official LibreOffice
QQ Qun in many other linux distributions and found no problems, so
this is a Ubuntu specific bug, not a libreoffice bug.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Install LibreOffice with zh_CN lang pack ( no matter whether you install
the LibreOffice offical builds, or by apt-get from ubuntu repo);
  2. Start LibreOffice Calc to create a new spreadsheet. Make sure the UI
language is Simplified Chinese. (If not, change the UI language in LibreOffice
options menu);
  3. In any cell, right click - 单元格属性 (Format Cells).

  Current behaviour:
The format cells window takes more than 10 seconds to show up.
(Actually, it's the same for other formatting properties window, i.e. chars,
page, paragraphs, etc.)
Set LibreOffice UI language to English will solve the problem.

  Expect behaviour:
The format cells window should show up instantly within 2 senconds, as it
is for English UI.

  System Info:
Ubuntu 13.10 x86. (Same for 13.04, as well as x86-64). Maybe OK before ubuntu
12.04.
Same issue no matter the system locale is zh_ch or en_US.

  See Also:
I filed a bug in LibreOffice bug tracker earlier, but then found this is not
their bug.
  See: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70857

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1258368] Re: libreoffice: long time delay for properties window when set UI language to zh_CN

2014-11-04 Thread suokunlong
This is caused by the droid fallback fonts. It seems that the chars
covered by droid fallback fonts are not complete, so libreoffice is
busy substituting thus caused the delay.

See my comments in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70857.

Title:
libreoffice: long time delay for properties window when set UI
  language to zh_CN

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  New

  1. Install LibreOffice with zh_CN lang pack ( no matter whether you install
the LibreOffice offical builds, or by apt-get from ubuntu repo);
  2. Start LibreOffice Calc to create a new spreadsheet. Make sure the UI
language is Simplified Chinese. (If not, change the UI language in LibreOffice
options menu);
  3. In any cell, right click - 单元格属性 (Format Cells).

  Current behaviour:
The format cells window takes more than 10 seconds to show up.
(Actually, it's the same for other formatting properties window, i.e. chars,
page, paragraphs, etc.)
Set LibreOffice UI language to English will solve the problem.

  Expect behaviour:
The format cells window should show up instantly within 2 senconds, as it
is for English UI.

  System Info:
Ubuntu 13.10 x86. (Same for 13.04, as well as x86-64). Maybe OK before ubuntu
12.04.
Same issue no matter the system locale is zh_ch or en_US.

  See Also:
I filed a bug in LibreOffice bug tracker earlier, but then found this is not
their bug.
  See: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70857

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1344159] [NEW] Critical Dataloss! Text in input field of webpage will be cleared if Ibus-pinyin enabled

2014-07-18 Thread suokunlong
Public bug reported:

Simple steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Enable ibus-pinyin;

2. Go to this page:
http://www.webodf.org/demo/ci/wodotexteditor-0.5.0-8-g471ccbe/localeditor.html
Then select some text
-- Result: the selected text will be deleted!
(this online app provided the ability to undo, so you are lucky to get your
data back. But you wont be lucky when you are doing this on other websites!)

3. Go to this libreoffice bug reporting page:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=mab4.2
Then click the edit link which locates on right side of (mab4.2)
LibreOffice 4.2 most annoying bugs.
(You need to login first)
-- Result: an empty input field shows up.
-- The expected result should be, an input field show up, with the original
text in the field.
(Same result if you click the Depends on edit link. I first noticed this bug
behaviour when I cleared all the bugs in the list while I was adding one bug to
the list. I did not realize it until some told me that I cleared all the bugs!)

4. ... And many other web pages, I encounter the same issue. It only
happens on ubuntu, not on Fedora 20, not on Windows!

All the above bug behaviour will not happen if you switch to SunPinyin
instead.

When I first noticed this bug, I was thinking it may be a bug of
firefox. But after further testing I find this not browser's issue.
Today I finally get the reason: it's ibus-pinyin's bug!

Hope this be fixed soon. I can provide further information if needed.
Thanks!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1334316] [NEW] Input field text is cleared when clicking edit of a webpage

2014-06-25 Thread suokunlong
Public bug reported:

After some day I updated my ubuntu 14.04, sth wired happened to my web browsers.
It's really difficult to describe, so just try the following steps to see the
problem.

Steps:

1. Open the html file in the attachment.
(This html source was saved from this link:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=mab4.2 . You can reproduce this
bug behaviour by login to this page directly, but I am attaching it to this
bug report in case you do not have libreoffice bugzilla account.)

2. In the line Bug 65675 - (mab4.2) LibreOffice 4.2 most annoying bugs (edit)
, click edit.
When click edit, an empty input box shows up. However, the expected
behaviour is that it shows an input box with the text LibreOffice 4.2 most
 annoying bugs in it.

3. Refresh the page; in the field Depends on, click the edit link at the
end of the bug numbers.
When click edit, it shows an empty input box. However, the expected
behaviour is that it shows an input box with the text 34467, 34957, 36799,
 37223, .. in it.
(This is where I realize this bug for the first time, when I input one new
bug number in the empty input box and click save changes, then Depends on
field is cleared out with only one bug number retained)

This bug behaviour did not happen before June. And I remember one day
after June I updated ubuntu, then this bug behaviour appears.

I was thinking this may be a Firefox bug, so I tested by installing
Chroinum, but the bug is still there; also, this bug behaviour does not
happen with Firefox in my Windows XP computer. I do not know which
compenent this bug belongs to, so I report it under Firefox.

This is really annoying, and is likely a regression. I hope will get
fixed soon.

Thanks!

2014-06-25 Thread suokunlong
I am attaching this another test html source. I think the problem may be
related.

Steps:
1. Open the attached html file in the text-editor.zip
2. Select some text in the text field, then try to apply bold or underline
by clicking the icons of the built-in editor.

Current behaviour:
When trying to apply bold or underline, selected text is deleted.
However, by clicking the undo icon, deleted text will come back, with bold
or underline correctly applied.

Bug description:
Each time when I suspend my Lenovo IBM R61i laptop to RAM and was
trying to resume, the Xorg/desktop freezes, I can do nothing but hit
the power botton to restart my system.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Click Suspend located within the right-top dropdown of the unity desktop;
  2. After the computer completly suspended to RAM after a few seconds, hit the
power botton on the keyboard to resume from suspend.

  Current behaviour:
After about 15 seconds' freeze I can input password in the lock-screen
window, but when hit ENTER xorg freezes. I can do nothing but reset the power
button. Ctrl+Alt+F1~F12 do not show up the terminal.

This bug behaviour do not happen in Fedora 20, which I installed in
  the same laptop.

  $ lspci

  ..

I was able to copy the attached log files with Fedora (which I
installed with Ubuntu on the same laptop) after I reproduce the above
  steps.

If any other information is need, I can provide.

Lenovo IBM R61i: Resume from suspend freezes xorg desktop

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “pm-utils” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Each time when I suspend my Lenovo IBM R61i laptop to RAM and was
trying to resume, the Xorg/desktop freezes, I can do nothing but hit
the power botton to restart my system.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Click Suspend located within the right-top dropdown of the unity desktop;

  $ uname -a
  Linux suokunlong-ThinkPad-R61 3.13.0-24-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 2
23:31:42 UTC 2014 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

  $ lspci
  ..
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G86M [Quadro NVS 140M]
(rev a1)
  ..

I was able to copy the attached log files with Fedora (which I
installed with Ubuntu on the same laptop) after I reproduce the above
  steps.

If any other information is need, I can provide.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1258368] Re: libreoffice: long time delay for properties window when set UI language to zh_CN

13.10 later to see if it still there.

Title:
libreoffice: long time delay for properties window when set UI
  language to zh_CN

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  New

  1. Install LibreOffice with zh_CN lang pack ( no matter whether you install
the LibreOffice offical builds, or by apt-get from ubuntu repo);
  2. Start LibreOffice Calc to create a new spreadsheet. Make sure the UI
language is Simplified Chinese. (If not, change the UI language in LibreOffice
options menu);
  3. In any cell, right click - 单元格属性 (Format Cells).

  Current behaviour:
The format cells window takes more than 10 seconds to show up.
(Actually, it's the same for other formatting properties window, i.e. chars,
page, paragraphs, etc.)
Set LibreOffice UI language to English will solve the problem.

  Expect behaviour:
The format cells window should show up instantly within 2 senconds, as it
is for English UI.

  System Info:
Ubuntu 13.10 x86. (Same for 13.04, as well as x86-64). Maybe OK before ubuntu
12.04.
Same issue no matter the system locale is zh_ch or en_US.

  See Also:
I filed a bug in LibreOffice bug tracker earlier, but then found this is not
their bug.
  See: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70857

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1310174] Re: cryptsetup should be included and installed by default in ubuntu 14.04

2014-04-21 Thread suokunlong
Steve Langasek (vorlon) wrote on 2014-04-20:#2

Cryptsetup was never installed by default in Ubuntu; it was only
installed if you selected encryption in the installer.

I never explicitly installed cryptsetup during my previous ubuntu
versions (and I did not choose encrypt option), but I always could
unlock my luks device. I will check this for 13.10 in a vbox later.

However, even if cryptsetup is not installed by default, in nautiles
when it do not find cryptsetup it should give some useful infomation
(e.g., cryptsetup is not installed in your system, please install...,
or just ask the user whether he would like to install it), rather than
giving the useless error message.

however, you say this was an upgrade, and it also should not have been
removed on upgrade. Please attach your upgrade logs from /var/log/apt
/dist-upgrade.

By saying UPGRADE, I mean remove Ubuntu 13.10 and install 14.04, so no
logs.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1298700] Re: chinese ibus pinyin input produces non-corresponding characters

2014-04-20 Thread suokunlong
Also, during ubuntu install, when you are connected to internet and
selected zh_cn as default language, ibus-pinyin works ok when install
completed and restarted.

To reporduce this bug:
* Boot up an ubuntu 14.04 ISO image;
* Add Chinese (pinyin) in the Text Entry input source;
* Make sure Chinese Pinyin is active and type pinyin. It should show 拼音 as
the 1st candidate but actually it shows candidates which are not related to
pinyin at all.

Installed language support, ibus, and added Chinese(Pinyin) through

When typing in pinyin the Chinese characters produced do not
correspond to what was typed in pinyin. Instead it looks like the
keyboard is following the bopomofo or zhuyin method.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1309973] [NEW] Unity menu integration in LibreOffice Writer broken

2014-04-19 Thread suokunlong
Public bug reported:

Menu bar integration in LibreOffice Writer do not work anymore, with a

Steps to reproduce:

2. Move cursor to the up-left corner.

Current behaviour:

This seems only happen during the first time you install Simplified

(Althrough reboot is an easy workaround, this bug will scare away many

Installed language support, ibus, and added Chinese(Pinyin) through
  the Text Entry Settings.

When typing in pinyin the Chinese characters produced do not
correspond to what was typed in pinyin. Instead it looks like the
keyboard is following the bopomofo or zhuyin method.

Unity menu integration in LibreOffice Writer broken

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Menu bar integration in LibreOffice Writer do not work anymore, with a
fresh install of ubuntu 14.04 lts.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. New Writer;
  2. Move cursor to the up-left corner.

  Current behaviour:
You can see the menus at step 2, but without close/minimize/maximize icons.

  Further steps:
  3. Go to ubuntu preference and set show menu in window title bar, rather
than in unity menu bar.
  4. Retry step 1 and 2.

  Current behaviour:
  (where have the menus gone?)

Please note that the menu intergraton works ok with Calc.

This is a regression and critical, because window can not be resized
in writer so blocks the productivity.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1309973] Re: Unity menu integration in LibreOffice Writer broken

2014-04-19 Thread suokunlong
Tested with the TDF build, Version: 4.2.3.3 Build ID:
882f8a0a489bc99a9e60c7905a60226254cb6ff0

In Writer, there is still no close/minimize/maxmize icon.

Even worse, in this TDF build the libreoffice menus do not intergrate
with unity at all.

** Attachment added: TDF build 4.2.3.3 writer screenshot, no close icon

Confirm in Ubuntu 13.10 x86, Evince 3.10.0.

Evince SEGMENTATION FAULT when opening any of the attached PDFs. When start
from terminal I got the following:
(evince:6572): EvinceDocument-CRITICAL **: ev_document_get_n_pages: assertion
'EV_IS_DOCUMENT (document)' failed
SEGMENTATION FAULT (Core Dumped)

What I can be sure is that all the attached PDF are created by Xerox
WorkCentre Pro 275, can be open OK with Adobe Reader in Windows, and
also open OK with MuPDF in Ubuntu 13.10 x86.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1258368] [NEW] libreoffice: long time delay for properties window when set UI language to zh_CN

2013-12-05 Thread suokunlong
Public bug reported:

When zh_CN (Simplified Chinese) language is enabled for LibreOffice UI,
the property windows will freeze and take much long time (more than 10
seconds) to show up.

This happens in my two home laptops and one office computer, all of
which have Ubuntu 13.10 installed. It was the same when I was using
Ubuntu 13.04.

This issue has been tested by someone else in an official LibreOffice QQ
Qun in many other linux distributions and found no problems, so this is
a Ubuntu specific bug, not a libreoffice bug.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install LibreOffice with zh_CN lang pack ( no matter whether you install the
LibreOffice offical builds, or by apt-get from ubuntu repo);
2. Start LibreOffice Calc to create a new spreadsheet. Make sure the UI
language is Simplified Chinese. (If not, change the UI language in LibreOffice
options menu);

The format cells window should show up instantly within 2 senconds, as it is
for English UI.

System Info:
Ubuntu 13.10 x86. (Same for 13.04, as well as x86-64). Maybe OK before ubuntu
12.04.
Same issue no matter the system locale is zh_ch or en_US.

their bug.

Title:
libreoffice: long time delay for properties window when set UI
  language to zh_CN

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  New

  1. Install LibreOffice with zh_CN lang pack ( no matter whether you install
the LibreOffice offical builds, or by apt-get from ubuntu repo);
  2. Start LibreOffice Calc to create a new spreadsheet. Make sure the UI
language is Simplified Chinese. (If not, change the UI language in LibreOffice
options menu);

Bug description:
  Hello,

if I'm using the Nouveau driver with my graphics board (Geforce
GT430), standby mode (a.k.a. suspend-to-ram) does not work.

Going into standby mode itself works, but when I turn my PC back on,
the monitor shows just a kind of colorful noise with the usual mouse
cursor (the cursor itself is displayed properly). Sometimes it's
possible to move the cursor a bit, but the system can't be used
anymore and has to rebooted with the Alt+Print+b keycombo.

This also happens on Quantal when I use the Nouveau driver.

WORKAROUND: The propritary Nvidia driver works fine.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 87220]

I believe image rotation feature is there since LibreOffice 4.1, so
maybe this bug report should be marked as RESOLVED FIXED?

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Currently when a picture is imported, it is impossible to rotate it.
This makes the task of importing images/graphs into OpenOffice
unneccessarily difficult and complex. Since OpenOffice already has a
gazillion of options about images, it's quite amazing that it cannot
  rotate them.

  WORKAROUND: Use WriterRotationTool
  http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/WriterRotationTool .

Title:
LibreOffice Base can’t find Java installation—does not work

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Confirmed
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Since I work with Ubuntu 12.10 I have serious problems with LibreOffice. I
already reported bugs regarding the menu line and regarding the use of files
with smb. This one is the most critical though. It regards the Database app of
LO (Base). This one is very critical, since I cannot use Database at all, nor
for working with existing databases (created in LO before in Ubuntu environment
12.04 or earlier), nor for creating new databases.
I don't really understand the reason, but from the error messages it seems
that the application does not find Java running, hence it could be linked to
the OpenJDK Jave of Icedtea Java or any other Java-tool used by the standard
Ubuntu OS.
I will describe to cases: (a) using an existing database with Base and (b)
trying to create a new database.

  (a) using an existing database. Open LO, choose Database. It opens the
Window 'guided creation database'. I choose 'open existing database' ,
then Open, then search one of the existing databases with the
extention odb. The database opens with a grey screen. When I try to
move to 'tables', I get an error message, stating that it is
impossible to create a connection to the database and that it is
impossible to find a Java installation with the advice: verify your
installation (see attachment 1, error message in Italian). When
clicking on the button 'more' (più) one gets two new error messages.
The first one repeats the general message that it is impossible to
establish a connection (see attachment 2, message Italian), the second
one repeats the message that no Java installation has been found but
adds 'Stato SQL: HY000' (see attachment 3). No tables are shown. One
can see queries, forms and reports created before, but of course one
cannot open these items, since they cannot connect to the data in the
  table(s).

  (b) creating a new database. Open LO, choose the button Database. It
opens the window 'guided creation database'. I choose 'create a new
database. Push the button 'avanti' (next) then I confirm the default
choices, register the database and open the database in order to
modify. I can now give a name to the database and save it. Then the
database opens, immediately showing an error message, which is exactly
the same as the first message shown in (a) with exactly the same
underlying messages. These three messages are her included as
  attachments 4, 5 and 6.

I wonder whether other users have the same problem. I would like to
know whether there are work-arounds available (e.g.installing 'real'
Java) and whether it would be better to downgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
which was really stable and satisfactory. Quantal has made LibreOffice
almost completely unreliable for professional use. In order be able to
continue to use my databases I need to use another computer with
  Windows XP [ :-(( ] with LibreOffice 3.5.6.2 ( I don't upgrade the LO
package because I don't want to run the risk of not being able to
open my databases on any platform anymore).

The windows computer I referred to has a Ubuntu 12.10 dual boot
version installed alongside. This Ubuntu installation gives exactly
the same problems, for which I think that more users could be affected
  by this bug.
