I have this bug in Armbian Stretch and Armbian Bionic. I'll try again after purging the xorg-edgers ppa, but I'll have to report one additional bug at least, because lightdm doesn't start with weston on my laptop either. Hmm, the logs show the xserver was 2:1.12.3+git20120709+server-1.12-branch.60e0d205-0ubuntu0ricotz, not the one in the compositor PPA.
