Title:
pulseaudio sound glitches when playing over network

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  What I expected to happen:
Playing a flash video eg. from ted.com using chromium-browser. I forward the
application sound output via the network (using paprefs and pavucontrol). I
expect glitchfree playback via the remote pulse audio server (which is
connected with a local threaded network to the local computer).

  What happens:
The sound is very choppy and/or the video stops and then fast forwards for a
couple of seconds. See example here: http://youtu.be/bv0SoMbJr9g

  Step to reproduce:
Enable network forwarding ("Make discoverable PulseAudio network sound
devices available locally") on the Local machine and "Enable network access to
local sound devices" on the "remote" machine.
Start a ted.com video and it will stutter. You can get the sound working
again by switching to local output device and then back to remote. This fixes
the stuttering until another video is started.

  Other notes:
The stuttering only happens for flash content ie. rhythmbox works just fine.
Html5 version of youtube works (although I am not sure that it always works).
Flash content does not stutter when using local output.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1030559] Re: pulseaudio sound glitches when playing over network

2014-01-09 Thread derwiwie
i am experiencing the same issues. i use my raspberry pi as pulseaudio sink
(pulseaudio 2). i updated pulseaudio 2 on the raspberry to version 3 by
downloading a precompiled version, but to no avail. The stuttering still occurs.
somewhere i read that version 4 of pulseaudio improved the situation, but i
cannot find a version for raspberry pi.

is there any news on this bug or does somebody know where to get pa4 for
the raspberry pi?

I am also experiencing this issue. I am using Ubuntu 12.10 with FF 18 as
pulseaudio client and latest raspbian with pulse audio 2.0.16 as sound
server. Probably it doesn't depend on flash because problem is with YT
html5 as well.

Enable network forwarding (Make discoverable PulseAudio network sound
devices available locally) on the Local machine and Enable network access to
local sound devices on the remote machine.

2012-12-17 Thread Erwan Bousse
Oh, and I forgot the most important: Flash is maybe not the problem
here, since in my case youtube+html5 has the very same problem.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1030559] Re: pulseaudio sound glitches when playing over network

2012-10-11 Thread Khusro Jaleel
I am also experiencing this issue simply by playing back Youtube video
straight after doing a cold boot in 12.04. It starts happening pretty
soon after the video has started playing back. I'm not playing anything
over the network, just locally on my machine. Unfortunately I'm not at
the machine in question at the moment but can provide a more thorough
lspci dump plus any logs later if needed.
